They ACCIDENTALLY leaked out.

SURE they did.

Just like Britney Spears Cha-Cha ACCIDENTALLY got photographed a thousand times!

We hope you like it, because if you DON'T, you are without question going to HATE the cars coming over the next few years.

Why?

Because EVERYONE and their brother will be building a derivative of this design in some way, shape or form.

They HAVE to.

Because everything HAS to shrink over the next 2-5 years because nobody really has the solution to this gas crisis other than making smaller, useful and more utilitarian packages.

To some, these next few years will become like the dark ages for cars and trucks until they can really figure out how to build what we all like now that will get 50+ MPG.

And unless some Google billionaires have something hiding in the wings, get ready for the onslaught of what we will call the 'SAK' Swiss Army Knife cars.

Somebody had to put a label on them, why not the Auto Spies.

One design that is a compact, sporty, fuel efficient, handy jack-of-all-trades but master of none.

1-Series Hatch, X1, Mazda 3, Subaru Impreza, B-Class, A1,  just to name a few...everyone else will follow with their own flavor of this...WE GUARANTEE IT.

And this 'SAK' craze will be BIGGER than the SUV fever that hit us a few years back.

They're going to get all 'Euro' on us!

Whether we want it or not.

No, Mazda is not on a roll. This car is a 100% rip off of a BMW, from the sharp shoulder crease right down to the Hofmeister Kink. SHAME ON YOU MAZDA.

The Mazda3 was released mid way through 2003. That's 2 years before the 3 series wagon that has a similar shoulder line, and nearly 5 years before the new STi wagon that looks very much like a mazda3 + a 3series wagon.

Yeah right! My '66 T-Bird had the same "sharp shoulder crease" ... and I don't think Ford was copying BMW in the 60's.
And I think the A4 brought that shoulder back into popularity in Europe back when ... '96?

Looks more like an A3 with poor rear visibility.

So now that they are leaking images, am I allowed to say that I saw it at a focus group last year? Of course they didnt say it was a Mazda, but hello, we're not idiots. The curves and angles were breathtaking. I dont remember it being quite so aggressive, Im sure theyve tweaked some design elements. But if it comes out close to what I saw, prepare to be blown away.

Although the Audi 1-ups Mazda on fit n finish (but you pay for it) the Mazda3/speed3 is a good crossshop with the A3.

Ya Mazda is certainly a good car for those poor people who can not afford a BMW. No wonder some of the Mazda cars look like 3 series.

what are you talking about the Mazda 3 hatch orignialy had desighn cues like the 1 series hatch......which honestly this concept looks better than the 1 series hatch its unique and looks alot more expensive than Im sure it will be.....the 3 is an excellent car value priced or not......high quality interior, and the hatch feels like it costs alot more

We are definately not wealthy and bought the current Mazda3. I see zero relation to any BMW with Mazda designs and I would prefer an Audi personally.

Wow I love the looks! I wish Honda made there Civic look this good in a hatch. I never bought a Mazda 3 because the crash standards were not as impressive as the Civics and the gas mileage was unimpressive.Although the acceleration was better on the Mazda.

I just wish this was a rear wheel drive car. I love everything about this car's design. Much more agressive than the current one and much better looking than the 1 series hatch. But for pure driving pleasure, I would rather have the 1 series. Concerning Price and styling, the Mazda. BTW, I currently own two Mazdas and have previously owned two BMWs. I love my CX-9 but would trade my 6 Wagon for a used e46 3 series any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
