Oh, what a surprise. The guy that bought the first GT-R is not a former Ferrari owner(sarcasm). Just as expected the buyers for the GT-R are former Japanese econobox owners who still cannot afford a real sports car.

Another jealous person who can't live up to the fact that the GTR is and will be a force among not just the corvette type markets of the world, but also the Supercar markets of the world. Watch out, the NSX is right around the corner. That car will probably also beat out the Supercars for less money as well.

The biggest disappointment about the GTR isn't even the looks, it's the weight and size. Nissan had a "clean sheet of paper opportunity" to do it right and they didn't. They built an overweight and oversize car that needs big power to compete, just when the world needs cars that are lighter, more efficient (but and just as much fun). A squandered opportunity spent chasing the Germans who also were trapped in the horsepower/weight wars.

I love watching all these people get upset at the fact that a $70k car will gain a level respect that has traditionally belonged to cars costing upwards of $150k. Don't you worry, the super cars aren't going away nor is anyone going to think this is better or worse then the Ferrari or Porsche. The goal of this car was to provide performance levels only reserved for cars in the "Supercar" price range. Just so everyone knows, the intent of the Manf of this car was to be a successor to the last gen GTR while providing performance of a Supercar. What they ended up with was a car that has the craftmanship of a Lexus and the performance of a Porsche. Lets face it, you can buy a GT-R and an Lexus LS for the price of these exotics. I am fine with that!

I would personally not have any reason to get upset if a $70K car would indeed be as good as a 150K car because a 70K car is the one I could actually afford between the two. The problem is that I'm not one of the retards that think overnight Nissan has the capability to build Ferraris and sell them for cheap. I can see the GT-R for what it is, an overhyped econobox and while I cannot afford a Ferrari, I would still not claim that this Japanese s**tbox is as good because is closer to what I can afford. Wow. In one short paragraph you have shown how ignorant you are. I don't think anyone has said the car was as good as a $150k car. What everyone is saying is that for $70k you can get the performance of a 150k car. It is amazing that you can't see that. It is also amazing that you can't see what Nissan has achieved. The fact that you call these achievements s-boxes just makes everyone see you for what you really are, an ignorant little boy. This car is neither an s-box nor an econobox. It is simply a car that brings brilliant performance and engineering to the masses. We get the fact that you do not like Nissans however, like it or not it is an achievement recognized by the world. Your opinion is irrelevant to the achievement. They did it and you can't change the fact that it will be an amazing success for Nissan. It will also sell quite well. Not only will it sell but it will sell to people who buy Ferraris. It will be included in private collections next to Porsches. In 20 years it will sell handsomely on the Barrett-Jackson auction right after Mclarens. All of this because of the achievement. the people that buy corvettes could care less about what the rich buy. you probably didn't treat the corvette as it was intended to be. its not a luxury car like ferrari or bentley. and they appeal to different audiences. most corvette owners that I know don't care about what most people that own ferraris think. the chevy has a stick and its engine is potent. theres also lots of dealers and has a very potent engine. its a simple sports car. the ferrari is magnificent, but its not something everyone can get. the ferrari is a ferrari and the corvette is a corvette.

Some like sophisicated german cars, others might prefer the rawness of an American Muscle car, and some like japanese cars for reliability and they're affordable and limitless to modify.

And I feel that any true car guy can appreciate and respect any genre of car.

For same reason the average age of a Lexus owner is 75 years old.

some people buy cars for the luxury and badge, and some for how they drive, true bimmers are drivers and that has nothing to do with how much money they make.

This car has been so hyped up it will be interesting to see how it fairs in long term, real world driving. I think 6 and 12 month tests will prove it to be a decent everyday car with incredible performance when it's owner wants it. It's still too ricer for me, but you have to respect it.
