I must admit this new 7 series is pretty ugly. It might have to grow on me before i even attempt to look at it again. The old 7 series was actually pretty decent looking. I dont understand why they would make the 7 series look like a sports car when they have several other lines for that.

No, what you meant is that toyota copied styling cues from BMW, whereas BMW evolved the look of the previous 7. Just goes to show how closely toyota imitated BMW when they redesigned their ls thing.

That's actually true. The BMW is a typical evolution of the current model, and if you say the LS didn't steal design queus from BMW, you are blind.

The rear looks an awful lot like the LS...and, as bulldogz pointed out, the similarities are unique to the new LS (swooping LED lines, square tail pipes)

I actually think that the darker color looks so much better than that champagne color that was used in the press release photos. I am actually not minding it as much now in these darker colors like the blue shown here. And I like the grill. In case you all forgot, BMW of its beginning years had huge kidney grills.... maybe this is BMW doing "retro".

Was not a big fan of it, but I think that it will definitely look better in real life (just like every other car), and the car does look better in dark color than the champaigne. I still am not a very big fan of the side profile, but as XJ13 mentioned, it will still be a hit...

Front end looks better in these photos, evolution of current 7 series design can be cleary seen. but the rear still not improved and grown on me. Looks like a fat and ugly copy of LS.

I like Lexus. I have an SC430. I can personally testify that the strength of the Lexus brand is smoothness, reliability, interior comfort, and customer service. (My Lexus dealer said 'we don't want you to ever drive anything else but a Lexus from now on.' - they are committed to pleasing the customer)

For anyone to contend that BMW (or anyone else) borrows designs from Lexus is just outrageously stupid.

Lexus styling is amorphous and unoriginal. I didn't say ugly, just unoriginal. They incorporate other makers' succesful design features into inoffensive, mildly attractive, ambiguous shapes.

Really trying hard to like this car, really hard..Just cant seem to do it..I mean the 3 series was excellent in my opinion..Wat happened with this?Just hope the coming 5 series is not ruined the same way..For the next years I guess the S class will be the leader in this segment..

Whole design is not cohesive and looks to be heavily borowed styling cues from Lexus.
S Class has better street presence and is overall a higher prestige brand than BMW.

I honestly don't find a Lexus LS in this car. I don't care how huge are the kidney grills as long as they are present. It looks classy and stylish, and whether you like it or not it's gonna be a hit.

The 7 series is a typical evolution of the current model. It uses the L shaped headlights that BMW have been using for a while now.

And if you even compare the design elements of both the new 7's rear, and the LS's rear, they are very different. Only resemblance is because of the size of the tail lights.

No they do NOT! The current 5 is the very worst design on the road, possible of all time. Its front does not agree with its middle which does not agree with its tail. NOTHING ON EARTH LOOKS AS UGLY AS A 5!!!

You Lexus fans have very limited automotive knowledge. They make a fine car, but they market to people who don't necessarily like cars. This leads to people saying incredibly stupid things because all they know is Lexus.

5 series looks nothing like the LS, not from any angle the two car looks similar. You are just not accepting that 7 series rear especially the shape of tailights and exhust does mimic LS. Plus the long chrome strip also reminds me of XF.

In direct side profile, the LS is a near carbon copy of the 5 series, particularly the entire area aft of the A-pillar. The LS tailights are a less radical interpolation of the 5's.

Wow, the 5 series tailights look NOTHING like the LS's, if anything, they look identical to the Kia Rio sedan's.

Definitely not seeing the LS in this design. You people are stretching the bounds of credulity. The 7er has an averall appearance of a masculine aggressive presence with the back end clearly an evolution of previous designs.

You can nit pick and stomp your little feet all you want, but no one will ever confuse the 7er for a Toyota Camry/Avalon or an ES like you do with the LS which is a nice evolution of a Toyota.

Wait until you see it in person.

That was actually a really cool idea how they decided to unveil the 7-Series. This car has kind of grown on me since the first time I saw it. I really like the front view of it. I think BMW did a great job with the headlights and grille and I like the curves on the hood. The back of the car just screams LS 460, though.

Kinda frustrating and the evolution of the BMW 7 design is OK....not what I have been expecting....I thought they will produce the CS design that they have shown in Shanghai. The CS design is so far the BEST and most formidable design I have ever seen with the BMW logo.
