Anyone Need A 700 HP Wagon? MTM Takes The RS6 To New Levels

Anyone Need A 700 HP Wagon? MTM Takes The RS6 To New Levels
German tuner MTM is not known for its restraint - it is, after all, the same company that fitted two engines into an Audi TT to set a speed record at Nardo. Its engineers have now taken the tuner’s brand of high-power, no-holds-barred modification to the internal workings of the new Audi RS6 Avant, already one of the most powerful production cars on the planet, and managing to boost output to even more extreme highs.

The Audi RS6 comes from the factory with 580hp (432kW) and catapults from 0-100km/h in less than 5 seconds. MTM was dissatisfied with this figure and so decided to offer an upgrade package that lifts power to 702hp (523kW) - around 50hp (37kW) than a Ferrari Enzo. Torque has also been lifted to a final figure of 579lb-ft (785Nm), brought about by increased boost pressure and less restrictive exhaust systems.

Sorry,

The Green Party is just gonna LOVE this car! I can imagine MTM being bombed by ecoterrorists, like the ones who burn Hummer dealers in this country.

And just what country is that?

Cmon 009, you know very well I'm talking about the U.S.

You remember this don't you? A little over a year ago a number of ecoterrorist organizations were burning and vandalizing SUV dealerships and their vehicles. Hummer and Chevy Suburbans were popular targets of these kooks.

Probably more power than we need for crawling through city traffic and the occasional road-trip (although it would be a lot of fun on the high-way ... till that part where the highway-patrol installs the hand-cuffs on your wrists).

We're swapping out my wife's A6 Quattro wagon for a 2009 Jetta TDI wagon with DSG 6-speed (it won't arrive till the end of the year). Probably not quite as much fun as the MTM on the highway, but a lot more fun at the pumps :)

It may be fast, but not fast enough to outrun itself from being dated by the time we see any form of RS6 here in the states.

What the point of 580hp... you're driving a station wagon! you're a heel and toe away from a minibus! Germans sure have some weird fetishes :)

let me tell you something funny. the RS6 Avant makes the M5 appear to be about as fast as the Smart on the race track. it's significantly quicker around the track. what happened to the amazing BMW rear wheel drive and its amazing engine. doesn't appear that it can keep up with the Audi. that must be very embarrasing for BMW.

the RS6 has beaten the M5 in every comparison.

BMW is giving out .9% financing for most of its cars for 5 years. Sure sounds like giving away cars.

the sedan hasn't been unveiled yet. but those Germans are smart enough to compare the RS6 Avant to the M5 Touring. The RS6 Avangt is quite a bit ahead of the M5 Touring in performance.

It's annoyingly incredible how these BMW fanboys can NEVER admit that other companies, even less AUDI, can make better cars than them... It's not that hard to admit that the RS6 has been a better car than the M5 for quite a while, in this version and the last version. Dude, anyone can admit and appreciate that BMW make excellent sports vehicle, but BMW (or any other company) OWNS the sports luxury market. We all have our preferences and our biases, but to say that the M5 is SOOO much better than anything else, especially the RS6 is plain stupidity. Again, the last RS6 was faster than the M5 (by the way, the E55 was faster then both of them and I don't have a problem admitting to that) and in this current version, RS6 is on top, not to mention the Sedan version not being released... yet. Just in time for any responses from your almighty M5.

MTM does nice stuff. This is for the power user though and it isn't cheap, but then neither is the base RS6. The impressive thing is that they can get this kind of power into a 4WD vehicle that can really make use of it rather than burning rubber drifting around corners.
