Ford having second thoughts about large rear-wheel-drive sedans

Those are some ugly concepts.

The Lincoln looks good but needs a DOHC direct injected 300hp V8. If Ford gives up on vehicles like the Town Car, the Koreans with cars like Genesis) will happily take over that segment.

I thought that from pics also, but they are actually pretty nice looking in person.

There is nothing wrong with the size of these cars! The problem is the gas motor! If it went electric it would have way more power! And be four wheel drive! That is if they made this car with PML.

Battery/capacitor technology needs to improve before a large electric car would have acceptable range on a single charge.

I think ford did a great job with the escape hybrid... maybe that should perhaps be a future thought?.... just a foreshadow

The ford escape is an in efficient hybrid! Its ok when you compare it to the old tech that is available to us all, but when you compare it to PML's hybrid there is no comparison! With electric power in a big car you could improve the power by three times and improve the fuel mileage to be more efficient than the preus if it is made by PML. Then again if it is made for us consumers unfortunately it won't be that efficient.

this confuses me....why not just find a way to make more fuel efficient engines.......the front wheel drive MKS gets 17 24, and the awd version only gets 16 23, thats pretty awful, and this is a fwd V6 engine car....ironically the larger V8 powered town car gets the same highway miles as the Awd model and only loses 1 mile in the city, 2 compared to the v6, and only 1 to the v6 mks front wheel drive in the highway..........that saids alot especially since there are cars with way more power, that getting epa ratings than the mks or town car and the numbers for the mks are really V8 car numbers

I never trust the new EPA ratings. The old ratings (pre-2007) were much more accurate for everyday drivers (like me). I drive like a sissy, no hard accels, 72mph on the highway, etc. I routinely got the marked EPA ratings or sometimes even better (pre 2007). The new ratings are absolute BS.

What I would like to see is a City fuel economy rating, and instead of Highway, there was this (example):

50 mph: 30mpg
60 mph: 28mpg
70 mph: 27mpg
80 mph: 25mpg

This way the individual consumer could judge for themselves instead of relying on some oddball government setup.

Bring Falcon.

They should have one rwd chassis for police, taxi and limo duties only. And then one model from the same chassis for civilian under Lincoln (Continental).

Why not make smaller RWD cars? Do they nessessarily have to be large?

Ford should cease to exist and their dealers are terrible, service stinks and surcharging is out of sight
