Lincoln’s Future: Production MKT - new crossover based on Ford Kuga

In an effort to move more upscale and to reportedly go global, Lincoln will introduce a handful of new models that will push that brand’s new style while giving some existing models will be redesigned.

Sales of the new Lincoln MKS have been going well. Dealers said they had already taken more than 8,600 for the model before its debut. The existing MKX and MKZ have also been selling well, but have been criticized for looking to much like the Ford Edge and the Ford Fusion. According to Peter Horbury, FoMoCo’s design chief, that will change with the upcoming models.

Horbury says that although Lincoln cars will share the same platforms as Ford vehicles, future models won’t look anything like Ford models.

That "kick-up" on the top of the rear fender does not look especially good on this concept. I didn't like it when it first came out several months ago, and I don't particularly like it now.

This is good for Lincoln. I have always felt that they hadn't pushed hard enough to separate themselves from Ford. Now if only they could do something about the engines and stop riding so soft.

I like a soft cushy ride where the car floats like a boat on the highway but prefer a more sporty ride occasionally. The best answer is something like Cadillac's magnetic ride combined with adjustability from firm to soft (and steps in between) with a control switch inside the cabin. I fully agree that Lincoln's engines fall short. I want to see a 300 h.p. DOHC V8 with direct injection.

What I do loke about Lincoln's crossover concept is how "daring" the designs are. I'm tired of seeing the same old front bumper, headlights, hood,...and all sort of heritage-based designs. It's not like we're gonna crash everyday, so why not make those cars look different...special...I must say, even though the interior is definitely a concept, I love that too. Everthing in design about this car is just perfect.

WOW!!!...looks great, can't wait until it comes out and resembles a Ford Escape, like so many other concept-to-production vehicles developed by american automakers.

I think it looks very cool and very bold. It's looking a little too Mercury-ish though. Anyways I hope their build quality is raised up a notch because the MKZ & Mark LT trucks are crap fit and finish.
