Next-generation Passat rendering

Volkswagen has confirmed that a new sedan, slightly bigger than the Passat, will be manufactured at its future Tennessee plant and will be on sale in the U.S. in time for the 2011 model year.

This new car won’t replace the Passat. Instead, VW will launch its next-generation Passat, as previewed in these latest renderings, only 12 months after.

Due in early 2011, the new Passat will adopt similar styling to the recently launched CC including the sleek headlights and contoured body.

Usually companies try to discern their luxury cars from their mainstream. But in VW's case they enjoy making them look so similar.

In reality, most of the so-called luxury and performance features have trickled down to "lesser" brands, making it unnecessary to waste money on cars like Lexus.

I know this is a rendering, but I am really interested and afraid at the same time about what VW has planned for our next Passat in the states. I hope it is not something that is really bland like the Gol they make for the Brazilian market. I hope it keeps solid Euro styling we expect from VW while having a price point closer to where it really should be. I am worried.... but I hope VW does it right this time...

I'm curious with the next generation Passats and Rabbits/Jettas being separate models in the US vs. Europe, what they will be like.
