BMW 1 Series New iDrive System - First released photos

Interestingly when BMW debuted iDrive they said it was to reduce the number of buttons and clutter in the interior. But every new iDrive and BMW for that matter has more and more buttons becuase they are more functional than spin and twist style controllers.
I still think iDrive has a place in the car but not for the most common functions. Those still need buttons.

I will have to try it, I hope it is better... I honestly don't mess with mine too often in my 3 Series.... I am only 30, but I am still old fashioned when it comes to cars, I like to just drive them!

I like a few goodies in my car. I just wont buy built in navi. Portables are the way to go! From what I've heard, not many people mess with it too often. What ever happened to touch screens?

Will hold my final judgement until I can try it out myself. But it does look promising!

I never really saw a huge problem with iDrive. It had quite a learning curve, to say the least. I could memorize the menu's and flick through them, the same way that I could text on my phone without looking at it. My mom has a 530 with iDrive, which she hates.

if you can text on your phone without looking at it, then obviously you can do iDrive without much of problems.

but most people cannot. in fact,it takes me 20 second to type one word on cell phone-- i just never use them. I-drive is a great concept, but BMW seems to forget what a car is about: driving (at least for the driver). i don't like the idea that you need to take your eye off the road and try to select the correct items on the navi screen when you drive on the freeway or attacking curves. and i don't like to memorize the i-drive manual becaues there are plantly of things i need to take care of in my life. i find voice command to be the most useful way.

The 135 does indeed fly!

Drove a 135i Sport coupe at Susan Komen charity event last weekend. The car was unbelievably fast, felt much quicker than my 335i and was really a ton of fun....drove it twice !!

This new iDrive makes the 1-series interior look much nicer IMO than the current fold up Nav screen. Also, the convertible is pretty girly if you ask me.

I never thought that the idrive was a really complex device. Personally I thought it was a brilliant idea and that it simplified all of the functions inside the car.

To be honest it took me 2-3 weeks to get used to it, and was quite maddening the first week and involved lots of reaching for the manual, but now I love it. I'll probably upgrade my current 335i in a year and half or so when the coupe 'refresh' comes out just for new new iDrive and M-DCT dual clutch transmission.

Then when he honks his horn or gesticulates at you, give him the bird. The audacity of your display will send him into a rage the likes of which will provide you with hours of enjoyment as you recall how many shades of purple his face became as he cursed you out for soiling his planet with your existence.

They were followed by those behind the wheel of luxury makes Subaru, Mercedes, Land Rover and Porsche.


Those quizzed named old people as the biggest danger on the road.


Boy racers were second, followed by white van men, cabbies and bus drivers.


The survey for Auto Trader magazine also learned Sundays are the worst day for motoring, then rush hour and the school run.


And women were seen as dodgier behind the wheel than men.

Oh boo hoo...you can't handle/don't like the truth? Go check out the survey...I wasn't one of the 21,000 surveyed, but had I been, I would have voted the same way...Now my previous post, that's just plan funny and as I'm sure most people would find that description accurate...

If you can't make a decent car just make more models so that the fools buy them, look magic more car sales.
