Lexus to upgrade GS engine?

Dear 001,

My little mole in Lexus tells me we will see the first 'AMG-style' offering early next year.

Look for the 2007 GS to be the first model that gets the treatment.

I hear it will have at least 50 more HP plus more aggressive ground effects, etc.

AND, it will undercut similar Mercedes offerings in price.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day!

Random Task Jr.

I saw the new GS today in beige.

Doesn't look luxurious from the outside.

The downward sloping line is pretty cool.

For some reason though, the Mercedes C-class looks more luxurious just from a looks standpoint.

I saw a black one over the weekend and it did not hit my spot either.

What a HUGE mistake not to release the LF-S. This car STIRS THE SOUL!!!

Nice Pictures DiamondJim! Note side rear view mirror being absent and replaced by an ondash LCD and also LF-S's 500+h.p. is awesome number also I believe All Lexus models will eventually have 4 W.drive and Hybrid as an option!
Simply incredible company!

Some thorough web searches resulted in Lexus filing patents for the name GS 460 -- which would sit above the current 430 and the upcoming 450h. The car needs more power in this category. Right on!

Well, in Japan there is no GS300. It's directly the GS350, same engine in the Avalon. That's already about 40 hp more than the standard one we have in the US. The US has the 300 for now because the 350 is too close in power to the GS430. In 2007 or 08, they will upgrade both... to a GS350 and GS460 or something. There will also be the GS450h, which is supposed to be Lexus' GT versions.

Lexus has become synonymous with luxury since its introduction in 1989. By offering some of the finest quality luxury vehicles and providing benchmark customer service, Lexus has become the "top-selling luxury" nameplate in the United States for "five years in a row". Lexus and its 210 dealers have repeatedly achieved high honors for both the products they sell and the customer service they provide as rated by the independent research firm of J.D. Power and Associates.

Lexus are laughing all the way to the bank i.e. $16 + billion in profit per year..makes other auto manf. cry like a baby just got hit by a hammer.

You are disillusioned about Lexus sales. The only reason why Lexus is the “"top-selling luxury" name brand is because of the RX-300. Without the RX-300 Lexus sales would look horrible.

Examples:

The MB S-Class and BMW 7 series outsells the Lexus LS400

The BMW 5-series, Audi A6, And Mercedes E-class outsells the Lexus GS

The BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, MB C-class, and Infiniti G35 all outsells the Lexus IS300

The MB SL outsells the SC430

The only car that Lexus can brag about sales is the ES330. And that’s only because Lexus is the only manufacture that makes a car that size for the “blue-Hair” demographic. The ES330 is a geezer car.

Lexus cars are nice but they are boring appliances that do not elude any excitement what-so-ever.

I definetly like the GS but I would was little disspointed because it only has 300 hp while the CTS has 400 hp and infiniti M45. If I was to paid $55,000+ dollars for a car it better have at least 400 hp. I wish that Lexus dealer made another version of GS in SE class where it will produce 400 Horse Power. But everything else in the new GS is Sweet..........Definetly awesome, but for that price I would rather a Cadillac CTS-V 400 Horse Power. So until Lexus boost up their horse power I give my money to CTS-V

I hope by fall 2006 the new GS lexus come with a GS 300 with 340 horse power and then the GS-V 430 with 400 horse to compete against the Cadillac CTS-V.

I sure hope they do, because I was a little disppointed when I test drive the new GS and found it only have 300 HP, compare to the M45 335 HP and the BMW 645 coupe 325.

I'm a big Lexus fan, I would like to buy a new GS 430 or 450 but I would definitely appreciate more if it had 350-375 Horsse power. If they truly bring it up to 350 horse power, GS will for sure out run the M45 and even the BMW 645 coupe.

Can wait for that new model to come out, I would definitely like to get one for my Christmas present.

I just it really retarded when the new GS 300 only had 245 horse power and the Toyota avalon has 285 Horse Power come on, Common sense. And oh yeah, the 2007 Camry is going be to like 260-270 Horse power that more power then the current 2006 GS 300. In that case I think I will get the new 2007 instead because it very sporty and has power it has the same quality as the Lexus because it from the same company

If I had it my way the New GS 300 lexus coming out this 2007 should have at least 350 horse power so it can compete with the Infiniti G35 and M45.

The GS 450 should have 400 Horse power to compete against the Cadillac CTS-V.

Tide fan do you know if the those new and upgrade Lexus GS are going to be should in the U.S. too?

thank you
