Porsche Cayman-And the verdict is? STUD or DUD?

Ok, so the Cayman has finally surfaced for real.

We have lots more great photos in this issue so you can get a good look if you haven't seen it already.

But the real question everyone wants answered is...

Continued from last week...

Is the new Cayman a STUD or a DUD?

Is the design worthy of the Porsche logo?

Or is it just an imitator?

Will it sell well or will it sit like a stone?

The head of Porsche USA guaranteed the press in New York, it would be Porsche's best looking sportscar.

Was he right or has his mouth been on the crack pipe a little too long?

Let's get the REAL skinny on the Cayman...

Post your comments/opinions below.

Look for our opinion in next week's issue.

Small, light, and fast. That was what Porsche was originally all about when they were the "giant killers" beating Ferrari back in the day. The Cayman is a nice return to that philosophy. Like a club sport model but better. 2800 lbs. vs 3200 lbs.
Big difference!

Folks,

You need to re-think your feelings about the CaymanS.

Some of you don't like the looks of the car. Fine; we all have different taste.

But on the price issue: If last year Porsche had announced that it would build a new car line, that the new car would outperform the 911, and that it would cost $10k LESS than the 911, we'd have all been thrilled. Well, they just did that. Thank you, Porsche!

So instead of complaining that it's more expensive than the BoxsterS, think of it this way: they just undercut their own top-line product. There are still reasons to love the 911; but for those who want comparable performance for a lower price, now we have a new alternative.

Cayman and the Boxster, I would obviously take the boxster. The Boxster looks classy and stylish while the Cayman looks like a car cobbled together of existing styles. The Cayman has a too high roof, which is one of it's flaws among many. It's butt is too low, especially emphasized by the tall roofline. From the side the hatch looks 350Z like, except with a smaller butt. Frankly, I don't know who would buy this over a boxster....they would have to be an idiot......
