I think nowadays, it's just hard to say which designs are unique. A lot of designs are obviously influenced by others, and some aren't but still look like they are. I mean, as styling evolves, parts here and there will inevitably resemble something else...

I understand the word "Jap" could be offensive, but it's just a derivative of the country's name, even if its origin (or at least the origin of its negativity) was from anti-Japanese sentiment during WWII. Rightly or wrongly, it's been commonly used slang, often by even the automotive press, to refer to the Japanese or in this case Japanese cars. I don't think it implies the object of the name supported Hirohito or the massacre of Nanjing or whatever.

Calling a German a "Nazi" is different, given it has nothing to do with the name of the country, but it's rather the name of the German party which committed terrible atrocities. Being a German citizen, I would never want to be called a Nazi, because that implies I believe in things I don't, and that I support things which I don't.

In any case I prefer not to use either term, but I don't think they're equivalent either.
