Acura NSX to produce 600 horsepower, lighter than the Nissan GT-R

I really hope that grill and those headlights won't be like this.

I won't even look at an NSX given that the previous generation's V6 had an inherently-out-of-balance 90-degree configuration and it was extremely difficult to get in an out of. Products that are not user friendly should die.

They better not incorporate the infamous awful grilles of the TSX, TL & RL... There goes the "weight advantage" over the Nissan GT!!!..

Honestly, only Japanese car fans will buy these cars. Did you see the list of European competitors? Aston Martin, Maserati, Jaguar... The rice burners will be formidable performers, but they certainly won't convert any of the European faithful with their looks. In terms of styling, the Europeans have nothing to worry about from the GT-R, NSX, or LF-A.

If the LF-A is going to be priced in the $200K price range surely Acura can do so. They were never contended with the hefty price before by any other Japanese maker. If quality is superb and performance is outstanding I see these selling quite well.

In my opinion they should just stick to the 500 horsepower range and ensure all those horses can be put to use properly instead of it being tail happy.

deboost me if you like, but the GT-R is ugly, the NSX is butt-ugly, and the LF-A is bland and forgettable.

This will be more of a GT than a real track car. However, I saw from a Japanese magazine that there will be a NSX Type-R which will compete with the GT-R V-Spec, Corvette ZR1, F430 Scuderia, 911 GT-2 on the track. It'll be more powerful and lighter than all of those cars.

The ZR1 will be the lightest of the bunch. It has an aluminum spaceframe and CF body panels. In addition it is the only one using a OHV V8 (which is typically lighter than OHC configurations) and doesn't have AWD (a big weight savings).

It will fail just like the old NSX. It's only a Honda...

The old NSX was no failure. Its the reason the Japanese automakers are even trying to compete in the rare air of the Aston, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. Its the reason Audi is doing so well with its "Everyday Supercar" the R8. And if I remember correctly the original NSX was faster 0-60 than the Ferrari 348, its closest competitor at the time.

Now price wise, I think Lexus and Acura have lofty expectations. But when you factor expected reliability into the equation, that price for near super car performance without the maintenance headache is the average Americans (who can afford the $200k+ price tag) dream. Probably won't sell in Europe. But if Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, etc. lose share in the US, they're in for a rough financial ride.

Um it's "ONLY" a Nissan....that performs awesome!. never mind the luxury and quality.. IT's OUTSTANDING in performance..! the NSX will good even if its not as good as the GT-R.

Well at least it will be fast. Man this is one generic look car. At lest Acura styling is consistent.

the pic is photoshop'ed.. Yet another speculation of what the NSX will look like.. Acura has not officially or unofficially released any pictures of the car..

This place is a rumour mill.. you need to check where the story and pictures come from.. this one is from "autoexpres" .. every two days they have a new tip on the NSX, it keeps their hit count high, but credibility low..
They still state the 7:37 time as the NSX's 'ring track time.. Nevermind it was testing the NSX mule, covered with tape and camo, driving the track in traffic, and timed by "some guy" with a stop watch..really not the most accurate to time a car..

Wait for an official NSX time from Acura or with an incar camera.. until that we are just arguing rumours.

Anyone can produce a supercar for $283,000. Chevy did it for 100k, and Nissan has done it for under 80.

The key with this car is to keep it EXOTIC. It has to deliver on all fronts of style, stigma, techology, performance, and exclusivity. Compared to the original NSX it shouldn't have any problem in doing this given the new rumored powerplant.

I hope that Acura pumps up the styling, though. When the original NSX came out, it as dead sexy for its time. Make it look like a Ferrari, perform reasonably well, and give it the reliability of a Honda, and I'll love it.
