Porsche Cayman S Sport - More Power, More Style, What's Not to Like?

In an effort to help dealers sell a few more Caymans before a redesigned Cayman arrives in Porsche dealerships, a special S Sport Edition is being prepared by Porsche.  We have the an official picture of that car, most likely the last revision prior to the redesigned model.

Scheduled  to arrive sometime in 2009, it is expected that the launch of the Cayman S Sport will coincide with Porsche's 60th Anniversary.

Wearing a paint scheme similar to that worn by current GT3 911's, this limited edition Cayman will wear upgraded brake and suspension pieces along with the Sport Chrono Package.  Power is rumored to have been increased to 300+ horsepower.

We will update you further as more details emerge.

I think it looks great. However, I don't think I would ever buy it. I still have the opinion that the Cayman is the poor man's 911. Plus, at 6'2" I feel awfully squeezed inside the Cayman. For this money, I would go for an M3.

My theory on this is that the Cayman is just a little bit of range financially for people. For some reason that makes the car, and anyone who owns it, a "threat" to their insecurity. You see Jay Leno in a million-dollar supercar? No threat, cool on all levels. But to see your neighbor driving a Cayman, that inspires jealousy and hatred.

But none of this has anything to do with cars, which is what a TRUE car enthusiast is all about. Frankly, anyone dissing the Cayman is just making a public fool of themselves.
