2009 Jaguar XF: The Cat is Back

San Diego is one of my favorite cities, this coming from someone who calls Southern California home, but is so disenchanted by the traffic and how difficult it now seems to get anywhere. With that being said, I have few complaints about Jaguar having selected San Diego and the twisty secondary roads to the east of the city for us to get some seat time behind the wheel of the new XF sports sedan.

With Ford’s recent sale of its Jaguar and Land Rover brands to India’s Tata industrial conglomerate, the importance of this launch for Jaguar’s future can’t be underestimated; if ever there was a make-or-break launch for a vehicle manufacturer, this is it. And thankfully for Jaguar, the new XF is an outstanding vehicle – albeit one that is somewhat difficult to pigeonhole – that should help restore the leaping cat to a place of prominence in the luxury sport sedan marketplace.

The front design of concept XF looked gorgeous, but not so much for the production model. Can't believe they made grill and headlight smaller to save cost for the $50k+ car. But no one can argue about the nice interior design.

I love the XF so much it may be replacing my LS in a couple years. Not to say I won't get another Lexus later down the road but I think I've found some love for this new cat on the prowl. Jaguar has done a great job with this. Perhaps once the new XJ is out on the road that may be my choice. I hope TaTa is funding the development well.

I love the XF when I see it in pictures (Though the headlight design is questionable) but when I see it on the road, it almost always slips by me un-noticed.

The XF is def. a hit for Jaguar and their new owner Tata . I am somewhat unsure of its reliablity though. Have anyone of you read the review of it over at Motivemag.com? They had a car that was very buggy. Give me the XF in few years whens its refreshed and has all the buggs ironed out. They really need to refresh the front and match the brilliant styling that it has in the back of the vehicles.

It's a lovely car, and it's on my "short list" of new car purchases once my current lease expires. I can fit in it too! However, I wish the headlights of the XF concept car had been retained on the XF production model.

Let me ask you this. The Jag has never been on a purchasers short list because of its reliability. Rather, it is the "classic" Jaguar look that historically drove the sale. Are there enough buyers out there that will drop this kind of coin on a car that does not look like a Jag just to get the marque? IMHO Ford beat the Jag reputation to a pulp and I just don't see a car selling because it has nice lines. In fact, without any vestige of the Jaguar look it has no bloodlines.

Damnity! I was hoping they were returning to the pouncing kitty on hood instead of the face on the grille. Nice car though!!!
