Spies Predict First, Now The Rest Of The World Speculates On A GT-R Sedan Rapide/CS/Panamera Killer
About six months ago we predicted that a GT-R sedan CS/Rapide/Panamera killer was on the drawing board for Nissan and now more and more sites are fueling the rumor.

From GT-R Blog:

The Nissan GT-Rs “premium midship” platform is proving to be an extremely potent one, fueling rumours and speculation that Nissan will leverage it in an upcoming Infiniti branded sedan. Septembers issue of Japanese car magazine Car Top features a rendering of such a car.

Still just speculation at this stage but if this car becomes a reality expect interesting things for that 4 door sedan Nurburgring record currently held by the Cadillac CTS-V.

Even Japanese mags are photoshopping their hearts out to gin up potential looks for the sedan.

As we said before, this would be the PERFECT resurrection for the 'Q' moniker...Call it the Q50-R and you re-energize the name and create a whole new level of prestige and exclusivity for Infiniti.

Are we and the others bang on?

Is this the ultimate trojan horse for Infiniti?

Also, I've never seen "first" on youtube vid.

im confused its an awful photoshop based on the concept CS how is this good looking.....and good luck to infiniti because other than its Motor Trend esque title I hardly think they will "kill" any of those cars...certainly not an Aston Martin. While it may compete performance wise it still lacks what makes cars that cost as much as the rapide will special....infiniti lacks the polish, refinement, and prestige to kill a brand like Aston Martin Infiniti can fight cars less than Aston Martin and some people maybe swayed by there compromised offerings, but I can promise you Aston Martin buyers will not be swayed...

The only thing I ask from Infiniti from my perspective is to FINALLY put a HIGH quality interior into their cars.

That is their only weak spot in my opinion.

Every car they make I love how they drive but when I see the interior materials switchgear/leather quality, etc. I get the urge to drive back over to the BMW dealer.

I don't care if it's cheaper than a BMW, 4k really doesn't matter to me to have a great inside experience over the life of the car.

Do something fresh...BMW style, Lexus quality and you are the new king.

001, I agree with you on this. I currently own an 06 M35. While it does have a decent interior, it is not quite on par with the Euro crowd. I was admittedly wowed by some of the convenience in my purchase inclding the awesome ventiallated seats.

However compared to the BMW 530 I was considering at the time, the $$$ difference was closer to $10K. Basically I didnt find the BMW to be that much better.

I will admit I was in a loaded 330 Cic prior and liked the interior much better.

As you stated, as long as Infiniti keeps improving, they'll be able to justify their luxury. Look at Lexus, when they first came out, they were aiming at the Euros at about 70% of the price and now they are almost equal.

001,

Actually Infiniti should emulate the Audi interior design, BUT keep that lovely rosewood trim they offer on the M-series. The "washi" aluminum trim they use on the G-series is nice too.

Ladies and Gentlemen... Presenting The Next Inifiniti Q

(Are you listening Nissan/Infiniti ?)

I'm tired things being called ___-killer. While I think this could be a good-looking car, Infiniti needs to continue churning great value lux cars. This is the niche alley they seem to have gone down to "bring them back" when on the verge of extinction in the early 2000s.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd find it hard to plunk down $80000 (just my speculative price vs. it's racier Nissan version) when a current top line version of any of their models gets to $60K with all the boxes checked.

They need to get away from the Q name. I can't imagine this being their "flagship" sedan if it competes with a CLS - which itself is very small on the inside.

Being that Ilike the CLS, I would actually consider this car if they actually move forward with it

This car is way to sporty to be considered a Q. Although a flagship thats is more sporty might be a great idea and capture a market the 7, LS, S class are not capturing. It could compete with maserati for a fraction of the cost.

As for Infiniti interior, My 07 G has awesome interiot in my opinion. I actually likr it much better than in my X5. Plus the design to way ahead and the BMW interiors are dated in most of their cars with the exception of the X6 and a few others. I would not recommend that they take design cues from BMW 001 as I think their design formula is on point. I would like to see BMW do a major overhal of their interior, especially the speedometer and other gauges. True that quality wise it does not hold up as well. But its not that bad. But I dont have kids or anything and I am really easy and take care of my cars so I may not be a good source of info on this.

Infiniti's interiors are dramatically improving. I do admit the previous Infiniti's interiors were not up to par. But the new EX's interior is up there, especially with the Lux Elite package. Even Nissan is changing. I was surprised at the quality of the 2009 Nissan Maxima's interior.

Even the interior of a 15k Versa has improved drastically, and is more interesting to look at than entire BMW lineups' interior.

As you can tell from my screen name I am Nissan/Infiniti's #1 fanboy, but this design is just OK to me. The front looks like a Honda Accord Circa 2001 ish, and the back half looks like a cut out picture of the 2009 Nissan Max. I KNOW they can do better.
