Another X3 killer coming soon?



Rumors are circulating that VW has an X3 killer in the works that will slot below the Touareg.

Sources tell the Spies it will be in dealerships no later than the 2008 model year, maybe as early as late 2006...

Let's face it VW needs all the help it can get in the US, and new products are important - especially now that we know the new Jetta is an overpriced, underpowered, Toyota wannabe.

Just look at VW's sales numbers - they are in big trouble, and frankly they deserve to be. Consider the way VW treats the US, for this is why VW has rapidly declining sales (i.) we get new models over a year later than Europe (ii.)we don't get respect in new product decisions (eg the scrapping of the retro VW minibus) (iii.) we get horrendously unreliable products [though this is a problem with other European makes at the moment] (iv.) VW does not do enough development between new model launches so the product's age and become stale - don't believe me - again look at the VW sales numbers

Are VW trying to see how many different cars and SUVs they can build with just one single platform??

Found out VW is coming out with a new Phaeton type of upscale car soon! I'm sure this one will be much better than Phaeton which was a damn good and innovative but pricey car (I think it was around 80 grand for it) but as usual...marketing strategy was a crap. Starting with its name.

And, why are VW coming out with two Audi Q5 and Q7 instead of just one solid Q6 or something..I don't understand it! I'm sure there is a differences between the two but..what's the point of having almost exact same car with just different numbers on it and a few minor differences? And trying to convince consumers that Q5 and Q7 is a 2 different models by being introduced at a different time? I think they said Q5 is going to be sold 6-8 months before Q7 is..but what's the point????

Another strange thing is that VW's Audi says Q5/7 supposed to be a hybrid, at least that was my understanding and its NOT. I'm thinking of maybe the next version of Q5 or Q7. I just don't understand with VW....As, I said before...there marketing is horrible and names and models are unclear and confusing to me.

Another thing, If I was VW/Audi ... I'ld have marketed and sold VW "diesel" engines here in the U.S. like 20 years ago and stuck with it! Afterall, some American consumers are dying to have a diesel engines...

And VW is cross-marketing with Audi which is a good thing, I guess but...here is another problem as I see it..why would anyone put a 5 liter, V10 Lamborghini engine on a SUV??? If you want a exotic sports transportation you'd buy exactly that! A sports CAR...But why a 500 hp SUV???? Damn, that is bad choice if you ask me...I mean..is this what the consumer wanted??? Thousands of people around the world wanted a 500hp V10 engined SUV?? Not to mention..that Lambo engine is going to bring down numbers on reliability problem to a new low!

The recently confirmed Q5 (based on the forthcoming B8 A4 platform) will compete with the X3.

The Q7 will compete with the X5.

about the Q6 was a joke of course but seriously, .. instead of competing with all these will established models..there are more options out there...finding a niche in marketing is the key!
