Nissan GT-R and ZR1 to be challenged by Audi R8 V10 at Nurburgring

Im not to sure the V10 R8 can lap the ring in the sub 7:27's with 535 hp. Considering the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 which is more hardcore and has 560hp can't do it. And the two cars have very similar platforms...

Me neither. These times will all be close and depending on the drivers ability and knowledge of the track it could vary as well. The R8, ZR1, and GT-R are tremendous cars for different markets and should all be praised for their engineering.

This is a pretty sweet 3-way shootout between each country we've got going here.

there are many cars with higher HP than GTR, ligher than GTR, yet slower than the GTR in the ring, i don't see why "pumping out a total of 535-hp, which should be enough to take on the Nissan GT-R’s and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s Nurburgring lap-time"

on the other hand, R8, being a german brand, has a soul, hell, even car and driver rank M3 higher than GTR for the german "soul" factor. why bother creating a faster car than the GTR when the current R8 ranks higher among all german based reviews for the "feeling" and the "soul".

without the german badge, aka, the"soul", ZR1 aned GT-R will forever be second place, TAKE THAT GTR/ZR1

Soul, heritage, pedigree, magic feel means nothing when you can lap the Nurburgring in 7:29 for the GT-R and 7:26 for the ZR1. Speaking of the R8, it's overpriced considering its lack of performance.

ghosthunter. People here don't need 'soul.' You're forgetting, all of the posters on Autospies can lap the ring in 7:29 with THEIR GTR's and ZR1. Didn't you know that Autospies is where all the teams get their drivers from?

All of these cars are considerably lighter than the R8 and have similar hp, and cant break 7:30, but the Gtr only has 480 and can do it, but alot of dino tests have showed the GTR has 480 at the wheels...so thats more like 540 at the crank. so the gtr uses magic, and the R8 will prolly be around the scuderia's time..maybe.

the R8 wasn't too far behind the GT-R in the Road&Track 4 track comparison while giving up straightline performance, the V10 should fix that

a proper Nurburgring comparison from a 3rd party magazine should be interesting

Why get a 3rd party when you have factory test driver that knows the car best and can push it to the edge?

because the factory times are useless when compared to times that people are used to.

these times came from a third party, I think one magazine got a time that was quite a bit slower than what Nissan quoted, hence you can't compare what Nissan says to these times.

Just look at the GT-R episode of Top Gear then you know.

GT-R's "heavy" weight and AWD adversely affect its cornering at tight track. That means if it runs the same time as Scuderia in Top Gear then it will beat Scuderia or GT2 on Nurburgring.

Superleggera, however, will be a more interesting comparison. From the number it should beat GT-R easily, but the latter has better AWD system so I'll say it's half half.

It seems hard to believe but so does the GT-R. Does the GT-R, on paper, seem like it should be able to do what it does? Nope. That's what's so amazing about it.

As for the LP560, where did the poster above see a Ring time for it? I haven't seen one published anywhere. Also, many times did the R8 post lap times as fast or nearly as fast or in some cases faster than the standard Gallardo. And that's with the V8.

Only time will tell, but you can't say it's impossible on paper when you look at the GT-R specs and it's time.

Who in the real world gives a damn about driving around that track?

It's all about how cool you look in your car.

The hundreds of people everyday who buy a ticket to drive on it.

I like the competition. But please when a car is running the track please record it and have all the timing, speed and any additional information displayed on the video and then download it to YouTube. The ZR1 running the Nurburgring is simply incredible.
