Hot News: BMW Isetta
Two of the most important new cars ever are about to ‘bubble’ to the surface – and in a world exclusive head-to-head, Auto Express has brought them together for the first time!

These are the clearest illustrations yet of BMW’s new Isetta and its sister, the Fiat Topolino. They are the result of a new deal between the two firms, which will also be extended to include next-generation versions of the MINI and Alfa Romeo MiTo.

The Isetta and Topolino are crucial to BMW and Fiat’s attempts to reduce the overall CO2 emissions of their ranges – but they will also offer buyers 100mpg fuel returns! Reviving a name not seen since the bubble car of the Fifties, the Isetta will take BMW into a new sector of the motoring market.

"the Isetta will take BMW into a new sector of the motoring market."

From the look of it, unless this thing is smaller than it looks and is the size of a Smart ForTwo or something, I would have guessed BMW was already in this segment with the Mini Cooper.

Versus the GS450h BMW already has a quicker and equally fuel efficient car in the 535i, and the 535d will provide roughly 32% better economy than the GS450h without sacrificing half the trunk.

Mercedes has a diesel hybrid S-class coming out that will significantly out-mpg the Lexus hybrid while at the same time offering plenty of performance (and the LS600h doesn't perform any better and gets only marginally better mileage than the LS460 anyway).

So, I'm not sure if I am seeing your point. But then I usually don't, nor does anyone else on here, so I'm not surprised.

actually...0-60 for the Lexus GS Hybrid is quicker :D

and...the S-class hybrid is obviously gonna surpass the LS Hybrid 'cause it's engine is much smaller. I'm guessing it's gonna be a 6-cylinder.
They're made for different reasons.

The current Lexus line-up with the new L-finess design are much better than the previous generations, but I think it's not good enough.
As a Lexus fan, I'm gonna be patient, save my money, and wait for the next generation to come...a generation that would perfect the things they have rather than pioneer it. (For the computer geeks, it's like Windows Vista vs. Windows 7)

If the Issetta has some of the same performance/handling DNA of its bigger brothers, then BMW will sell a ton of these..
