2010 Mazda 3 Rendering

With Mazda making good use of the well balanced Ford Focus platform for the Mazda 3, the new generation model shouldn’t disappoint.

The Ford Focus engine variants are to be sourced and replicated in the new Mazda 3. Currently engines in the Focus range from 1.4L to 2.0L for the petrol variations and 1.6L to 2.2L for the diesel variations. The performance MPS model for Mazda will source the same five-cylinder turbo engine from the Focus ST, and will deliver around 250bhp to the wheels.

The new generation Mazda 3 is expected to go on a diet, using lightened materials, and adding to the sporty dynamics much like the current Mazda 2 did with its predecessor.

Glancing across the updated Mazda range, we see trends in the use of better materials and improved ergonomic design. Expect no less in the new generation 3 which will surly boast Mazda’s zoom-zoom styling appeal.

The new generation Mazda 3 is expected to arrive in 2010.

if you go on the mazda3 forums, most owners are getting more than 35 mpg.

Showtime, we get 38mpg on the highway in our Mazda3 2.0, that was with the AC off but doing around 80, I'd say 36 with AC no problem. Anyways it's been a great car, I prefer Audi & VW for myself but can't overlook the Mazda3.

Aren't the Mazda and Ford platforms similar to each other do to a partnership? Even their designs kinda prove that 'cause the grill in the front is big and low like the Fiesta.

The Mazda 3 share the platform with the european Ford Focus and Volvo S40. The US Focus does not equal the European one.

They should redo that front bumper though. Other than that it looks great. But this is only a rendering so there's still hope for that front.

front bumper is very 'concept' looking and will mos definetly be toned down. Other than that, looks great! I like how the incorporated the wheel arches into the design, which, are practically missing from the current 3 and are a big part of the Mazda design language.

this may be inaccurate in regards to what we recieve in the states, for one thing, we might get this a year later (2011) wasnt the new mazda6 a year later than the euro version? Also I doubt that we'll get Ford powerplants, the 2.3L is an good i4 (a bit noisy) and the turbo version is just awesome.

Looks really nice. I wonder how close this would be to the actual new car. Now, if they throw in all wheel drive with the turbo for the MS3 version and price it like the current Mazdaspeed 3 (~24k), that would be awesome!

It looks great, although I like the 5 door better for the family and hauling stuff,dogs... around. Lets hope that they have improved the crash standards for the rear passengers.The current standards are poor. And people are reporting 35mpg, that is impressive! But is that the non existent Canadian gallon or the smaller American Gallon? My 2007 Civic drives aprox 600km on 40Litres of fuel with the air con going. my last tank was 6.9L/100km mixed, with air going
