Mazda6 will not come in a hybrid

It would only make sense, but Mazda has no plans to offer a hybrid version of the 2009 Mazda6 any time soon. The Mazda Tribute Hybrid and its platform sibling Ford Escape Hybrid share the same powertrain - a move that was expected to be carried over to the 2009 Mazda6 and the upcoming 2009 Ford Fusion. The 2009 Ford Fusion is already confirmed to get a hybrid variant.

But Mazda says a hybrid 2009 Mazda6 is just something that’s not in the works right despite the market conditions during the past six months.

This person is an idiot and needs to be fired. I really like Mazda alot but they do not have the most efficient engines in the world, not even close. I only makes since that they would even if its just from a marketing standpoint. "The 2009 Mazda6 with a 2.5L 4-cylinder and manual transmission is rated at an EPA rating of 20/29mpg (city highway). The 3.7L V6 automatic is rated at 17/25mpg". These are not world class numbers. The Accords V6/4cyl are atleast two mpg's better in every way. This is a poor marketing move for a company that is on the rise. What it may seem to buyers is that they (Mazda) don't care about the environment or gas mileage.

The only correct answers to this press question are:

1) Yes, we are working on a hybrid or diesel or electric
2) It will be ready on __/__/____

Anything else is simply unacceptable with the current fuel situation.
