Watch what your kids play. If some 18 year old retard gets ahold of the game and offs someone, whos fault is it? How can you hold a video game accountable for someones actions. Thoughts are always under control. Its like saying that Marylin Manson made me kill my neighbor. DUMMMMMMMMBBBB

Nah, it's not the game's fault. It's the level of punishment that isn't high enough becase you see jail cells are just too comfortable these days. You get cable, 3 meals a day, weight training, sports, etc...in fact, it's better than some people's apt's and it's free! but maybe we should start chopping fingers off of those who like to "recreate scenes" or just feel like robbing and killing someone for the heck of it. I bet they'd think twice before they do it then.

its really the individual and his (I'm not sure if her can be included) maturity. of course what the news said itself is that the kid (who was probably under 17) took the game too far and wanted to try it out himself without considering the consequences. Thats what you learn as soon as you grow up. Video games are just video games. And reality is whats really going on. Kids are getting easy access with these games nowadays. I never heard of any of my friends trying to demostrate whats in the game to reality, which is a good thing, but its happening quite a bit.

Agreed. If he wasn't recreating GTA4, he could have just as easily recreated some other stupid crime he saw somewhere else. It's a lame excuse to blame the video games.

Showtime, those prisons are spruced up as much as possible to make the convicts forget that they're getting all kinds of c0ck shoved up their ass. Seriously though, it pisses me off that, aside from the ass-rapings, shankings and other goings on in prisons, they get better things than soldiers overseas.

The truth is that all these type of games for Xbox360 and PS3 are for people with poor character. The companies want kids to smoke weed and play games for hours non-stop. The consoles and games are promoting a very low culture of stupidity and violence with their ever increasing processor and AI capabilities. There should be a penalty on PS3 and Xbox to discourage sales and force MS and Sony in a different direction.

MS and Sony do not create all the games. The only problem i see with the whole set up is that the games rating need to be followed.

The teen should be tried as an adult and face the death penalty. Right or wrong, the court should hold the game/console makers responsible and make an example out of them.

People kill me blaming videogames for child violence, its such a copout, which is exactly what this guy is doing here. Watching a Burger King commercial doesn't make you fat. Watching the Batman movie isn't gonna make me go jump off a 80 story building. At some point responsibility for your own actions has to come into play. At some point responsible parents need to make sure there children are doing right things (like NOT playing mature adult violent videogames). For this guy blaming the game is the easy way out when in truth he had WAY more issues before he decided to go and take that mans life.

The stupid kid should face the responsibility of taking another man's life and not blame a video game for making him do it.

are we going to ban movies too because people get killed in them? What about books? Comics? Hell, forget "pretend" death in games, books, movies, and comics -- there are millions of places this kid could have seen REAL death before he committed this crime or played that game. Ever seen Banned from TV? What about the internet? We going to close those all down too? This is one step closer to Big Brother.

The person who did this deserves the harshest punishment possible. But HE did it, not the video game company. Not the company that made the video game system, nor the company that made the TV he played the game on. He did it, blame him. And if you want to blame more than just the kid who did it, blame his parents for not raising him properly and using the Playstation like a defacto babysitter. Raise your damn kids. I've played video games for 25 years, I don't need them to be banned to know that STABBING SOMEONE TO DEATH IS WRONG.

Interesting...how about the MORONS focus of selling less weapons to the general public instead of video games.

I always blame the parents.

It is really bad to know that video games are leaving such a drastic impact on the children that they are trying to recreate the scenes.
