Infiniti hybrid prototype revealed

Infiniti hybrid prototype revealed
Nissan has been selling a hybrid version of its Altima sedan for the past two years but the core technology of the vehicle, the petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain, is based on technology borrowed from Toyota.

Nissan has always promised to deliver a vehicle using its own proprietary hybrid drive system, and the company has now previewed that technology in the form of two new prototypes.

Under the ‘Nissan GT 2012’ business plan, the company has committed to zero-emission vehicle leadership, and has announced plans to introduce an electric vehicle (EV) in 2010.

Sounds like a pretty good move for Infiniti. They already make amazing cars, so making a hybrid would bring in even more customers.

Awesome. They just need to bring the G37 with a 2.5 litre mid 200hp V6 now....

Yea, although this is a hybrid, knowing infiniti, it will probably still offer 306+hp and 287 pounds of torque and deliver a whooping 25 MPG!! I hope they get the message and give this one less power and MUCH better fuel economy similar to the current Altima or better because it is smaller.

Who says you can't have power and better fuel economy? A hybrid system can increase performance and fuel economy simultaneously. It doesn't need to get 60mpg. If they could do high 20s or low 30s and maintain the performance levels they have now out of the G35, they'll have a killer product.

They should offer both options.
