Definitely. I like the job they did with the trunk keeping it short yet with a nice slope. I always hated the BMW 3 Series cobvertible's huge flat trunk whic was nowhere near as nice as its coupe counterpart's.

For the most part I am a coupe guy and think the G37 coupe is one of the most amazing looking and performing coupes on the road. However, the convertible looks pretty good and should be a home run for anyone in the market for an upscale convertible. Good job Infiniti.

This post doesnt concern BMW or Mercedes-Benz, this car isnt a threat to either brand, so calm down. Infiniti's main competitor has actually been Audi.

The premium German brand BMW now more than ever is held in high regards and respected worldwide despite whatever you may believe.

Too bad a lot of people won't agree w/ you. I, in other hand, think ACURA is closer to AUDI since they all stick to FWD/AWD and features a nicer interior tan exterior, though even the former is changing to RWD.

INFINITI is closer to BMW than Mercedes. They are all sports-oriented and features functional interior, if not a bit on the cheap side, though I'd say the latest C-class certainly is the new interior king of econobox.

Merc or BMW doesn't even come close to NISSAN when it comes to real PERFORMANCE. Despite whatever you may believe, heritage gives way to the real McCoy.

dlin - I agree that the Skylines are great but as a brand, BMW kills Nissan in performance.

And for sticking Merc in that thought you should be ashamed. The SLR McLaren will destroy the GT-R! Price is irrelevant! No one wants to hear how close the GT-R comes at 1/6 the cost. No one who buys a SLR gives a shit about the GT-R! If Nissan wants to claim performance king it has to beat the truest German super car head to head.

Autospies - commission that comparo!! The SLR and GT-R need to go head to head on the same track in the same conditions.

ok lets think about this. in every comparison the top two usually come down to a BMW and Infiniti.
G35 Sedan - BMW 335 sedan
G37 Coupe - BMW 335 coupe
FX - X6
And somewhat M35\45 - 5 series
They always compete and in those segments it always comes down to those two.

Nissan GT-R beats SLR bad, let alone BMW, which doesn't even have anything over 600 hp. Simple and easy. For BMW to come up something close, they either have to make it 650+hp or source AWD system from NISSAN.

Cars are like cell phones, each one offers a little something different and if that "one thing", or groups of things, is offered by only one manufacturer, you go for it.

Nissan GTR - This car will be sick. The deal is though that if your one thing is that it must integrate with your Sony Playstation 3, then it will be on your list. If you're group of things is performance & class, then this car won't be on your list. It is a bit of a brand stretch for anyone to pay $70k for a Nissan. Would you buy a Plymouth if they released a $70k model that competed with the GTR....nope.

It's a type of paint that self repairs hairline scratches. It's already available on the Infiniti EX. It will probably eventually be standard across the entire Infiniti line.

Here's some info I found.

The EX’s Scratch Shield clearcoat paint is said to repair fine scratches – such as fingernail scratches under door handles – and restore the surface to close to its original state while maintaining the car’s gloss-level over time.

Nissan says the Scratch Shield process can take anywhere from one day to a week – depending on the ambient temperature and depth of the scratch – and uses special highly elastic resin. This resin is combined with a conventional clear coat to increase the paint's flexibility and strength by raising the resin density.

I'm very curious to see what the price premium for the RHT is going to be. Fro the 3 Coupe it is $7,900 and $8,300 for the 328 and 335, respectively.

One hopes the G37 RHT is not going to sell at such a steep premium.

What award after award and comparison test after comparison test? WTF? It hasn't dominated its class, rather is a very good entry.

Wrong time to debut a car like this with our economy sucking and I hope it seriously undercuts the 335 in price.

Otherwise, more power, good interior, nice styling and this should add some additional sales.

that was due to price as the only reason it bested the 335. Also, the G37 is slower, doesnt handle as well, stop as well, smaller interior volume and trunk space. It is not really a good competitor to the 335 coupe. A 135 coupe would be a better competitor, but the outcome would be worse.

One of the sedan comparison the G35 beat the 335 but the 335 usually comes on top but i would almost call them equal and seriously for a Japanese Company (since everyone always degrades Japanese Automakers) they deserve some respect to beat mercedes in a lot of comparisons, and sometimes BMW.

Profile looks a lot like the SC430 - not a bad thing because with the G's performance and price point, should be a raging success. Won't outperform the 335 but will definately steal sales from it.

It is not going to compete with the BMW 3-series conv hardtop. It is the size of the 1-series. That is more of a direct competitor. Just have to wait to see the figures.

Infiniti overall length 4650mm BMW 3 series 4580 Infiniti width 1823mm BMW 1782mm Infiniti Height 1395mm BMW 1925. This makes the Infiniti longer and wider, how does that make it a 1 series competitor?

Cdndriver - interior dimmensions? The exterior on the Infiniti is about the same length of a 3-series, but that is due to very large overhangs on the front and rear of the car. If you look at interior dimmensions in regards to headroom, shoulder room, leg room & trunk space, then you will notice the G37 is pretty much the same size as the 1-series.

The BMW does give a little more room in the backseat, however the front seat numbers(my seat) are virtually identical, this is still a 3 serries competitor. The 1 series is an entry level car which is significantly smaller than the G and definitely not near as well equiped even though it prices out about the same as the G.

one more point in correction to the overhang coment. The Infiniti ha a 112" wheelbase compared to the 108" wheelbase on the BMW, which would mean the BMW has larger overhang considering the vehicles are almost identical in length

CDNDriver - Lets break it out to actual inches to help you understand the much greater size aspect of the 335 coupe vs a G37 .....

One would think that after comparing these figures, that yes G37 should be alot more spacious inside the vehicle. What I dont understand is how Infiniti fails to use the extra space to its advantage? Somewhere on the G37, they have wasted alot of useable space.

The 335 coupe is much more spacious. If you compare the interior volume of the G37 vs the 135, you would be surprised to find out that the 135 is 86 cu ft of interior vs 85 cu ft on the G37.

the only thing you proved is that the G coupe is for people who really wanted just two doors. if you're arguing for backseat comfort then get the sedan. the thing most people will look for is front room, which you plainly showed the G being bigger than the 3 in 2/3 of the categories.

The G37 and 3 series are natural competitors, they are each other rivals. Infiniti is coming out with a 1 series competitor sometime in the near future, which I can't wait to see! Some people are not able to be objective because they are fanboys!!

I am very objective but Infinti has put the G37 as a comparison vs the 335 coupe. 335 coupe, is larger, faster, handles better, stops better, more cargo space. The coupe doesnt fair very well vs the BMW coupe, unless you compare it to the 1-series.

The G35 sedan on the other hand is a direct competition to the 3-series.

The G37 is a direct 3 series competitor. The 3 has not moved that far up market. Also, the performance crowd is the only group that would compare the 1 series to the 3 series. And that comparison is striclty limited to the 135 vs 335.

Why is the 1-series not a direct comparison to the G37? both are very close to in size. especially in the aspect of interior volume, both are close in price.

Only the infiniti buyers think that the BMW 335 coupe is a direct comparison. Magazines do it, mostly since that is the only offering. Everyone knows, that the only way the G37 bests the 335 coupe had to do with price. It has been proven over and over again that the 335 coupe is faster, larger, handles better, brakes better, offers a much larger trunk. Yes the BMW 335 costs more as it should.

Make the G37 faster, handle better, and larger inside, then watch the price fo thru the roof. Drive both cars. You bring up the performance crowd would only compare a 1 series to a 3 series. Then what is the point of offering a 330hp G37 if Inifiniti isnt trying to appeal to the performance crowd. This is like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Side note - The G37 conv and coupe are pretty sharp cars. I have driven the G37 hard and put it thru its paces and it is not a really good performance car. Str8 line is fast and feels powerful, but too much roll in the body and the suspension lacks the surefootness of the BMW.

sigh, i dunno about you guys but the car in the picture is downright sexy. i dont think anyone is going to care its slower than a 3. these arent track master cars. thats what the nissan equivalents and M cars are for.

And i think this roof down convertible version looks better than the coupe, somehow it seems like the body of this G37 was born to be a convertible, whereas the old G35 looked better than the G37 in coupe form. The case is like that in Lexus LFA, the convertible looks much better proportioned and more beautiful than the coupe version.
