Last time I checked there wasn't a V6 in the world that got 34 mpg on the HWY or anywhere else. I believe that its more like 29-30 hwy

What i find odd is that the Larger & Heavier 325 Sedan gets better Economy from the Same engine than its slightly smaller Sibling.

The hybrid is not a v6 it is a 4 cylinder

I have an IS250 that will continually hit 34 on a long trip with the A/C on.

My A6 twin-turbo 6-spd will get 40 MPG if I put the cruise control on at 80k (50 MPH) in 6th gear ... but the car feels like its not even moving at that speed.
The big problem in the US is the power-sucking slush-box transmission.

My 6 speed manual accord coupe consistently gets 33 mpg hwy, including a bit of mixed local town driving.

Call it whatever you want. They are reducing our dependancy on foreign oil. So I for one am glad to see more hybrids and cars with better fuel economy.

if GM wanted to reduce dependency on foreign oil then GM would make a aveo hybrid, colbalt hybrid, etc.

I never said GM was trying to reduce dependencey. And you are right, they CAN do better.

I wouldn't call the GM hybrids a joke. anything that size that can achieve 20+ mpg city is nothing to bash. At leasst they took the initiative, only problem is the people that are after better fuel economy won't be able to afford one, be it the tahoe or escalade, likewise the people that can slap down $50k on a tahoe probably could care less about fuel economy, considering you'd never re-coup the extra cost of the hybrid over the standard tahoe. You can get a nicely loaded tahoe leather and the works for under $40k. So to me I don't think you'd break even on a $10k+ premium over the standard hybrid for over 10 years, and the batteries are not likely to last that long so you have to throw in the cost of replacing the batteries.

It is obviously Somebody having a joke and it seems there are enough idiots around to justify the Joke.

REAL WORLD MILEAGE is nowhere similar for the 2 vehicles mentioned in the article

The EPA has to be the most useless agency in the USA.

The biggest benefit will come when people realize they don't need the fastest car or biggest truck on the block to slog through our daily commutes or run to the store for a quart of milk.

Both of these have to be diesels right?
I cant see a gas powered car getting this mileage and BMW not sending it here right now.

They are Petrol 3.0L Inline 6 cylinder Engines

And they have been around in Europe for a While now.

Personally, I'd go for the Yukon Hybrid. It's virtually the exact same as the Escalade and you don't have to spend a small fortune on the chrome upgrades. That's really the only thing different. That and a lower insurance rate on the Yukon.

Some folks haven't figured out that trading in their Corolla for a Prius will save a barrel of oil a year, but trading a gas-guzzling Escalade for a Hybrid SUV could save a barrel of oil a week!
