First Drive: 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR
I have to admit that I'm biased when it comes to the Dodge Viper. I've had a soft spot for the venomous snake since the GTS coupe hit the streets in 1996. The aggressive design, powerful 8.0-liter V10 with 450 horsepower (doesn't sound like much now, but it sure seemed like a lot then), and the blue paint scheme with white racing stripes were the ideal combination for my dream sports car.

These slugs wanna talk about grannie mobiles, lesux, BM w. The snake makes one auto, the fastest car on the road, unless you wanna spend $225,000 and then it slams most of them. The 08 beat everything but the GT and that ugly 1 million dollar VW. It out cornered, braked and had better lap times than everything in its class Road & Track tells it like it is. Everyone on this lame site (the site is OK, it’s the wannabe posters). You see a vette, a Porsche, Benz, or whatever coming down the road you don't know if it’s the little brother or the real thing. EX: boxster or 911, or the gramma in an auto vette or the Z. There is one viper and it’s an animal. I love slammin Lamborghini’s. and SLR’s for 1/2 a mill. My kid has an M3 and the wife has an A8. They are no fun when you get out of a viper. None of these wannabe’s have had the experience so whats the point!

I'm still on the fence about it. The car is ridiculously fast and seems to be faster than all the other exotics these days, but unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired for daily driving; the thing you do the most of.

If you want a race car, don't buy a road spec Viper. Buy a race car.

wedouglas you are right to say that this is a racing car and not a sports car, but you left out the part of it being a crude and unsophisticated racing car.

I say again: This is an idiots car!

ok...who drives a Viper as a daily driver...???, especially an ACR edition which when it was first released on the last generation it was for club racing..certainly not as a daily driver. So I fail to see why a Viper ACR needs to be a daily driver.....

"I can't imagine a car that would provide more thrills at anything close to this price tag. But then again, I'm biased."

I've had the pleasure of driving an Ariel Atom II once. I dont actually think cars are made that are more fun to drive than one of those. All for about $70K for the 300hp version with some racing upgrades.

When Brammo Motorsports was still making them in Oregon, they had a test drive day with an autoX track. It was a few weeks wait for a 20 min drive. Worth every penny. Dont know if I could wait the almost 2 years they're back ordered though or stand the "some assembly required" kit car method of making it road legal.

My apologies, that was actually the Z06. However only the Lambo LP560-4 Gallardo managed to beat the Viper. This car really is a street-able race car that came with its own race engineer however and not exactly a daily driver.
