Revealed: Audi RS6 sedan

Revealed: Audi RS6 sedan
Earlier this year, Audi revealed pictures and statistics for its monstrous V10-powered RS6 Avant, and now the first details about the sedan variant have been revealed just months out from new car’s debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show.

Just like the Avant wagon, the new RS6 Sedan is fitted with a 5.0L twin-turbo V10 engine that churns out 580hp (426kW) and 480lb-ft (650Nm) of torque.

and how many Audi, MB, or Lexus models can keep up with that "Datsun GT-R"? Oh, that's right, none.

I wonder if the moderators can set up the site to just automatically immediately gray out your posts and assign them the "-13" boost they're invariably going to end up with. Save everyone the time and hassle of having to do it.

audi arent worth crap the a6 can be 40 grand new 2 years down the road its 15-20 grand. dont let me get on the A4's they lose 40% of their value after siging your lease or finance. BMW has a better resale value than audi anyday of the week come on dont even play that value game with me because audi will lose

Autocar disagrees, at least in Avant form. Both are amazing but I'd be all over the RS6, gotta be the most expensive car with boxed fender flares ;^)

Not if you look at any Top Gear comparison, where you find that the Mercs are amazingly fast... in a straight line, but do not go around corners so well. Thats where BMW and Audi come into the equation. Check out some You Tube videos of AMGvRSvM cars.

Audi still has a long way to go first off audi has to put turbos on their cars to compete with bmw. Just imagine that cars power without twin turbos and imagine the M5 with twin turbos. If that M5 had twin turbos on it it would put that RS6 over its lap and beat the hell out of it. as long as audi keeps puttin twin turbos on their cars of course they will be faster than the bmw but remeber one last thing the BMW M5 is naturally aspirated at 500 hp with twin turbos that thing will easily surpass the RS6.....

Audi could have easily used a 550+ NA V10. But that engine would only have about 400 lb-ft of torque, instead they got more horsepower and more torque across a much wider powerband and ended up with better fuel economy than the BMW

First off BMW and that other german company are not messin with an AMG....PERIOD. Secondly if audi has power to mess with an AMG please show me the one that will come close to beatin it besides a BMW. WHY in motortrend, car and driver and all them othe mags does BMW alway come in first in the comparsons or second to Mercedes sometimes and Audi is always 3rd or later. I wouldnt be suprised if they try to buy BMW engines in the future. and why is all of these car manufacturers try to get their hands on that BMW inline 6 engine is it because its the best engine that has ever came out since the 90's and won plenty Int. engine of the year awards about 6-7 times in a row. I think thats pretty damn spectacular if you ask me and their engines are still topping the charts for those awards.....Come on over to the dark side you german car fans BMW is where its at

how many times in a row has BMW won the international engine award and how many times has audi won. my boss bought a 2008 S4 with the turbo CRAP and the 2nd week it was in the shop because the turbo wasnt working properly. and that car was brand new when he bought it last year. audi will eventually catch up with BMW 10-100 years from now...lolololol

I would have question your story. First of all, you are full of crap yourself. A 2008 S4 DOES NOT contain turbos. The 2008 S4 is a normally aspirated V8 with the S4 doing extremely well in reliability surveys. So much for your BS story. Go sit in the corner with your BBF amazingidiot.

tell me is why does audi have to make an RS6 on what the S6 should have done. so they have a 10cyl engine but they need a bi-turbo as they call it to beat out the M5. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds like they are behind to me....so if BMW made a twin turbo M5 you know and i know it will surpass 600hp and more than likely have close 500ft lbs of torque. here is a look at what a company got when they added twin-turbos to the M5....http://blogs.motortrend.com/6203418/car-news/bmw-m5-pushed-past-800-hp-by-california-tuner/index.html.....BMW may not come close but it goes to show what that M5 is capable of

chewychewy - 8/12/2008 4:38:03 PM

Audi uses the turbos because this is a luxury sedan and not a sports car. For this type of car you need torque down low and across the entiere rev range. The turbos give Audi more horsepower, more torque, more power everywhere when compared to the BMW M5 engine, and better fuel economy.

VISOVISO - 8/12/2008 5:13:14 PM

Everybody know the Current RS6 is capable of over 600 bhp. So your mute is pointless. Adding Turbos to the BMW V10 is no different than Audi having added Turbos to its V10.

ok but no one still didnt answer my question......why didnt audi just keep the S6 and make that over 500 hp why the rs6. I will tell you right now the S6 CANNOT hang with the M5 but so lets get that out now. so being that audi couldnt get a car to hang with the M5 they had to make the RS6 which is a twin turbo V10 that will more than likely beat out the naturally aspirated BMW V10. Come on AUDI's are cute cars....lolololol...but overall they were always a few steps behind BMW.

ok I thought about it the 550 has an V8 and the M5 has a V10...ok now for audi... the S6 has a V10 the RS6 has the same V10 with twin turbos...Now what sounds stupid Making 1 V10 car that would blow the BMW M5 out or use the same engine and put twin turbos on it so it can blow out an M5 which wont be by much because its heavier than the M5 almost 500lbs heavier. That sounds like a waste of time and money on audis part why dont they just make the RS6 and get rid of the S6. Now I could see if the S6 had a Bi-Turbo V8 and the RS6 had the Bi-turbo V10 yeah that makes sense...well at least to me it does

b7fan; bottom line, audi is a direct fit in between bmw and mb. mb has a lot of technology but can't handle worth s***. bmw has the performance locked down out of the 3 but the interiors are the worst of the 3. audi can perform better than mb but not as well (in the minds of some) as bmw. i'm not even going to get started on the interiors. sorry b7fan but audi is the perfect balance.
