Nissan Engineers Step Back From Acid Trip And Create A Drop Top Murano?
Nissan is preparing a new addition for its popular Murano crossover lineup, and surprisingly enough, the future SUV will be a convertible.

On the market since 2003, the five-passenger SUV underwent a complete makeover for 2009, and now Nissan is engineering a drop-top version of the latest-generation Murano. Expected to arrive by the spring of 2010, the Murano drop top will be the market's only four-door convertible except for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, whose rugged four-wheel-drive capability is geared toward a completely different audience.

Anyone Remember the movie "Mission to Mars 2000" The barbecue scene the guy pulls up in a Isuzu Vehicross convertible.

Anyways, the Isuzu Vehicross had this in a movie, It's kinda like moving in on Jeep Wrangler territory if you ask me, and as a different SUV maker, I would never want to try and bump into that segment.

What IS a BMW Aztek? All I'm seeing is that the different versions of the Aztek are produced by the blind Japanese engineers, known for promoting the worst possible puke inducing designs.
On the other hand BMW makes gorgeous cars which are only criticized by the Japanese car fanatics.
The upper class knows you want classy, you buy anything German. You want trash, you go Japanese.

You know very well what the BMW Aztek is, don't deny it. BTW, I like some BMW designs very much. That's the difference between you and me, I am not biased.

43LE "I am not biased"

Biased is definitely not how I would describe you. Words like Japanese fanboi, fanatic, ricer describe you much more accurately.

They probably messed up the design of the SUV a little by doing this but at least they have the balls to bring it out just like when they brought the first four door truck to the US. What they really need to do is bring out a two door FX (droptop as an option) like the Triant concept, that is an SUV many people would want.

Didn't Suzuki sell something like this a few years ago? Now we just need a 2012 Nissan Quest convertible. Kids would love it!

Not a good idea Nissan, seeing that SUVs are prone to rollovers, I see a Final Destination sequel in the works.

I don't consider this to be the best directions Nissan has ever taken, or any automaker for that matter. But at least its no one ton turbo diesel titan with a swimming pool in a nine foot bed.

BMW does the egg on 4 wheels X6 and all of a sudden this makes people wanna puke! How hypocritical especially for those who find the X6 attractive. I love BMW's but the X6 is an aqquired taste even if they are all sold out.

Well...I agree with you. But then again I never said BMW owners have taste either. Nor for that matter Benz or Porsche owners...the Cayenne is vomit on 4 wheels.

Fortunately, the owners of these vehicles who actually care about the CAR rather than the BRAND don't purchase X6's and Cayenne's. They buy M3's and 911's.

This vehicle will work and be very popular. It's got no competition (Jeep, not) and while everybody else is panting about new models that simply copy something else, or the latest "refresh" (jeez, a break please) Nissan will give buyers something VERY different...something fun, with decent performance, room, comfort, and droptop charisma. I'll bet that SUV buyers who secretly long for a little convertible pizzaz will scoop these up big time. It will appeal across age groups for different reasons, and across markets. It's a hit coming and Nissan can't be anything but really excited about this. Flame away.

Nissan has always had the balls to try something new to bring to the market then others follow. Like the FX, the original Z, etc.
