Nissan GT-R Spec-V not delayed, coming to Paris with different name
Last we heard the 520-hp Nissan GT-R V-Spec was reported to be delayed by a couple of months and rumors started Nissan will instead launch a ‘Evolution’ model prior to the V-Spec variant. Well a new report from AutoTelegraaf says that the V-Spec will debut this October at the Paris Motor Show.

According to sources, the faster Nissan GT-R may not carry a V-Spec badge. That could clear up rumors for an ‘Evolution’ model - meaning the V-Spec may be called the ‘Evolution’ instead.

Sources also say that the Nissan GT-R variant will get an extra 100 horsepower for a total of...

The Atom is smaller, lighter and more nimble on it its 'feet'. Given that power to weight is also a strong suit (coming in around 1000 lbs and having 245 hp) I have a hard time seeing a MUCH larger and over double the weight 500 hp car keeping up. Upon looking up some times the Atom has unofficial gone as low as 6:55 around the ring.

Now being as the standard GT-R has a disputed time of 7:29 and the now EVO mules are supposed to be lower than that I still can't see any version of the GT-R dropping almost 30 seconds off the standard GT-Rs time.

That just sounds a little far-fetched.

When you drive a Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari you don't worry about people who pull up next to you in a lowly Japanese econobox made by Nissan. Is one of the perks of owning a car like that. There are plenty of souped up EVOs and Supras that can already do what the GT-R does so it's not like anything changed for the supercar owners. They were aware of the possibility of having a faster ricer econobox pull next to them before the GT-R came on the market. They still laugh at the boy-racer attitude that people who own Japanese rice exhibit.

You have to give respect to the GT-R for what it is. It's never going to be a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini in the way we view super cars but it is what it is. A fast Nissan sports car that does the job well and is a cheap thrill compared to other cars that make similar figures. It'll never howl or growl like a CGT, 430, Gallardo, Murcielago, Zonda or have the quality of those cars but the GT-R was under construction for years and it was executed very well, the best Nissan could have done.

StarStar - 8/15/2008 10:08:39 AM

I'm not saying that the GT-R is not an impressive car(coming from an econo brand)but I could hardly see the owner of a real super-car being worried about a Nissan pulling next to him at a light. Logically, any supposedly insecure Ferrari or Lambo owner could just buy one of these GT-Rs if they would feel threatened in any way by one.
All these fantasies poor people have about this car being something incredible are the result of their own insecurities. They tend to heavily overate cheaper products that resemble high priced "originals" in an attempt to make themselves feel better about their crappy life and the fact they will never be able to afford a Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Since the GT-R appears to be something they could own eventually, maybe buying them as used cars, they tend to build this fantasy world around them where a cheaply build car like the GT-R is better than the masterpieces made by Ferrari or Porsche. In Fantasy land Ferrari owners lose sleep over the GT-R. In reality they laugh at it and are happy that they can afford to buy better cars than that.

Star the GTR is a car nissan makes that is a supercar right out the box, has always been since R32, R33, R34 and now R35....its not just a "souped" up nissan it is a GTR...a 350z that does 11's is a souped up nissan...and im pretty sure alot of the pre-sold GTR's were to people who have Lambos, ferrari's and porsche's...and like I said earlier I am not knocking those exotics but its time for the people like you to give credit to Nissan for making a SUPERCAR that beats out the cars you grew up thinking were unbeatable

StarStar - 8/15/2008 10:36:02 AM

Those supercars were not unbeatable because they were the fastest, they were unbeatable because they offered the most exhilarating driving experience. And based on that guess what, they are still unbeatable.

The Nissan GT-R is a really fast car but that doesn't make it a supercar. If your idea of a supercar is being faster than everything else, you got it all wrong.
A Cobalt SS can lap the ring faster than most of the supercars from a few years back. Does that make the Cobalt SS a supercar?
The GT-R matches a supercar only in performance but fails at every other level, from fit and finish to the way it sounds and connects to the driver.

Star, you seem like another badge whore who doesn't like anything unless it has European badges all over it and announcing it in everyone's face, saying "Look at me, I'm trying to appear rich and important. Don't talk to me." You need a badge on a car because you feel insecure without something proven behind you and need it as a status symbol to make people think you're somebody special, when, in reality, you are just a little man hiding behind a badge, nothing more, nothing less. Come out from behind your badge and drive a future legend (and a present legend), the GT-R!

The sound of the car is the only thing with doesn't have that howl to it but it also doesn't have that ricer coffee can sound...all supercars don't have to sound alike

Come on now,

You don't have to be a badgewhore to like Porsche's, Ferrari's or Lamborghini's. Their designs(especially the Italians) are exotic, a look that the GT-R doesn't have. It has performance numbers and it matches, beats some, and comes close to others. You can't ignore the sound, the engine, the precision in the build, and the attention to detail in cars like those. Carrera GT, F430, Enzo, Murcielago LP460, Pagani Zonda, all cars like those you would pick over a GT-R not because of being a badgewhore but because you appreciate their product.

Any car can be made to go fast. It's how the presentation is and the quality.

Anything that goes 11's in the 1/4 mile is impressive. But, all these exotic cars that are being dogged on here is ridiculous. What would happen to that GTR if you twin turboed those cars? Do you GTR peeps know what a Vette runs when you Twin turbo it? Easily streetable 9 sec. E.T.s. Talk about a spankin' And you know how many 900 H.P Toyota Supras there are out there, qiute a few. Do you know what happens when you twin turbo (like a GTR) a Viper. Take a ride in your GTR and then take a ride in that! There is NO COMPARISON between the two. And, don't comeback with this crap about the GTR outhandling a Vette or a Viper cause that won't fly either!! If those 2 cars ever get a dual cluth trans

Hey all the comments on here are great, but I have to disagree with STAR's, "The GT-R is a dream came true only for the pimpled face teenager who's interaction with the world is limited to Internet access. I totally disagree. Men (of all demographic backgrounds) do this in some form or fashion all the time, whether at the stoplight, expressway etc.) I have the pleasure of driving the New Jersey Turnpike at least once a month and I've witnessed or participated with (several times myself) grown men bobbing and weaving thru traffic at speeds greater than 80mph trying to outdo eachother. In fact just last Saturday morning, myself (an Infiniti M35 owner), an older guy (mid 50's)in a Porsche Carrera drop, and a younger guy in a Lexus ES300, were racing for at least 15-20 miles and I'm sure we all hit triple digits whenever we broke free of traffic. Believe me I'm sure the Porsche could've creamed us on a closed track or on anyone of the straightaways if he really tried, but it was all in fun!!!! Not every enthusiast can afford a so-called supercar, so you buy the next best thing, and if you can give THE BUSINESS to the guy in the Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo or Maserati, then guess what!?!, you're gonna get your rocks off. By the way I crushed both of them; the 80 - 120mph acceleration times (if there's such a stat, LOL!!!)was too much for those dudes.

By the way those guys care, because they read the car magazines too (from Car and Driver up to the Robb Report)
