I mean, there's many people out there that can create wonders, but like the light bulb, that's not completely true. Edison's true reason to come into fame is his marvelous electric lamp that LASTED! Quite a few people were competing with him...trying to patent their products, but Edison's lasted for not just hours but days...
I praise the 7's gadgets, but if BMW really wants to impress me (and millions of others), they've gotta make their technologies more reliable...not fool-proof, just reliable.

Yes it`s technologically advanced but not innovative . Innovations that I find : flexray data transmission ( this one I think the most important ) , traffic signs recognition by camera ( speed limits ) with cruise control adjusting automatically speed to speed limits and that`s all , maybe some minor i-drive upgrades like Integrated owner`s manual in i-drive and adaptative brakelights depending on braking power . Other technologies like Night vision with person recognition , four wheel steering , Lane change and lane departure warning system were much earlier introduced in other cars .

You are 100% correct. Their are much better other choices out there like the innovative Lexus LS.

Winning JD Power award #1 year and and year out and no one can beat you is innovative. I guess Lexus never gets tired of winning first place.

You are 100% correct. They can't beat Lexus and that makes them uncomfortable. 1st place year end and year out. Lexus is the most respected brand in the worlds most powerful country with the best churn rate than anyone, and yes this makes the other automakers very uncomfortable and work over time.

That cars been nothing but hype all along. It keeps getting delayed and will be overpriced. Who knows if it will even ever come out?
The NSX will be a much better choice. Who'd choose an LF-A over a Ferrari? Ferrari/Lamborghini owners buy their cars for the prestige, name, driving feel, and styling (All of which Lexus lacks). They won't even consider it.
The GT-R and the NSX are the top supercars from Japan and are priced much lower than what the LF-A will command. These two are a much better value.

This Article is killing me. This BMW-7series-mini-cooper doesn't even have LED headlights, a advance hybrid option, and doesn't even park itself...

Lexus isn't all that great..Lexus copies the Germans everytime. And underneath it all, Lexus is just a fancy Toyota. They look the same inside and out and are equally as boring to drive. Heck, the LS looks like a bloated Camboat.
The LX is a LandCruiser, the ES a CAMRY. The SC is a Soarer. The GX a Prado. The RX a Harrier.

! Night vision was in the Cadillac in 1999!

Actually most, if not all of the features mentioned on this car can be found on other cars. So Im confused why its a marvel. If this really impresses you so called car fanatics, I would really challenge you to step outside your BMW box and explore other brands. U might be surprised what you find out. I do find that they have taken these features and improved them. But these features are still ot full original and are now expected on cars in this class.

I won't quit either until BMW gets it right by killing i-Drive, installing anti-door-ding protective side moldings, and by cloning the S-class front seats. BTW, I'm no fan of unnecessary overpriced complications like 4-wheel steering -- they will add significantly to life cycle cost in terms of repair and maintenance, not to mention reliability issues due to mean time between failure in vehicles that are generally not built to aerospace standards.

Wow, this new 7 series is awesome. I always knew BMW was at the forefront of technology, but this 7 series is light years ahead of the competition. I was kinda leaning towards the MB S class but after seeing and reading about the new 7 series I am sold on it. The interior of the new 7 series makes the S class look like a model T.

I have been watching this thread with some curiosity. I recall the ambivalence that was inherent in the thread when the new 7-series was introduced. It appears that now there is firm resolve on this issue, for everyone seems to agree with but a few poster's views. Then again, perhaps I am wrong and something else is going on.

Funny how I was deboosted for stating the facts about this car not being a "technological marvel". Using terms like this shows an obvious bias for a brand. That's all. The Tesla,Porsche 959, Nissan GTR, etc, were "technological marvels" not this. It is a fine car but let's not exaggerate.

I think the proper statement would be "The new 7 series is the first auto maker to sucessfully incorporate all these technologies into ONE beautiful machine".

What I like about some older BMW's are the fact they are well balanced driving vehicles with controls that were simple. After having an Acura with all the techno options, I have to say all those things can ruin an otherwise nice car. I think people should ask for the 7-class of autos without the gadgets. I just want have fun going from point A to B. The controls on some economy vehicles like the Corolla are nice and simple.

You're troll-like behaviors are never ending are they?. You think Lexus is a technological marvel don't you? I think Mercedes paved the way for all luxury cars up to the present day. BMW has had some good technologies implemented in their cars as well, so has Lexus. You give no credit to other companies. Toyota isn't the greatest in the world just because they are #1. Keep in mind they are first and foremost an eco-brand. I don't know why some view BMW as an eco brand because the Big 3 of Germany are all used as cabs there but it doesn't dull the image of any of them.

This cars shape doesnt do it for me in the pictures I have been seeing the past 2 months or so. But it just doesnt do it for me...Maybe I need to see it in person people say they changed their minds when they seen it in person. I am a BMW fan and I love their cars M5 hint...hint...you cant base the LS460 to the new 7 until their is a comparison test....period....or in that case any of the big boys. I dont even care about a comparison test with lex,merc,and BMW but what i would like to see is Lexus,BMW,AUDI go after mercedes CL which is the hottest big coupe ever made by a luxury car company. None of the other 3 dont have a car that would match up with the CL. I love BMW's but if I had the money I would get that Mercedes CL over anything Audi,BMW,and Lexus makes

How many more Lexus Sales Events will there be to shed there excess inventory? BMW builds most of their cars to customers orders and I know for a fact that Lexus cars come as is from the factory. You can order them, but mostly what you see is what you get unless it is located at another dealership.

BMW keeps lower inventories so customers can order the cars the way they want them configured, thus lower on lot inventories.

Lexus drop the price on it's inventories by $$$ thousands $$$$ of dollar per car just to move them off the lot..

GET A CLUE !!!!

Then again, BMW doesn't have "Big Momma Toyota" to fall back on and cushion it's losses should there be any like Lexus does..

For some reason Lexus cars just do not look as good to me as BMW or MB. But I guess they have very good quality. I mean, they rank high on quality. So, who knows.

7 series is bullet proof - best luxury sedan out there, no question about it.

The 7 series is good but the S class is even better. Man the interiors of S class is jaw dropping especially the dash.

Lexus makes cars? Wow thats something new. They have ALWAYS copied something. Seems to me that the they couldnt find anything to copy to make the new LS so they just drew a box and put wheels on it (which is practically what it is) Where as this marvel of technology is definately going to make many competitors run back to the drawing board. Honestly the top Luxury cars are the Merc S-class or the 7-series. The Audi is a good attempt and is no doubt an amazing car, however its a swing and miss. Lexus is interesting to sleep in. Entertaining while playing with its high tech toys, while useless when the engine is started. The only interesting thing about Lexus is their dedication to lower carbon emitions through their hybrids. Thats 1 point for Lexus. Sadly no where close to what the S, 7, or A8 scores.
