BMW Ties Lexus In Latest Customer Satisfaction Survey

BMW Ties Lexus In Latest Customer Satisfaction Survey
Lexus remained the top auto brand in a customer satisfaction survey joined by BMW while Buick and Cadillac and Lincoln Mercury fell.

Lexus again scored 87 of 100 points in the study released today by the University of Michigan's National Quality Research Center. BMW's 1-point gain from a year ago tied it with Toyota's luxury division. Toyota's main brand and Honda Motor Co.'s Honda were next, as both rose 2 points to 86 in the survey of buyers who've owned their vehicles between 6 months and 3 years.

``For GM, Ford and Chrysler the uphill struggle becomes more uphill,'' said Claes Fornell, who oversees the American Customer Satisfaction Index for the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based university. The slip for U.S. brands was partly the result of higher gasoline prices, he said in an interview yesterday.

Homer,

Lexus fans have nothing to brag about besides their beloved Hybrid technology. There's nothing exciting about the LS I purchased but it does its job very well. I doesn't have the curb appeal of my S550 but then again an S-Class has always been a marquee name.

Another phrase used by kids.

how has the Lexus fans loss the bragging rights? This study was done by a university and not a reliable source like consumer reports and JD Power. It probably was done by some students who is 17yrs who loves to drive fast.....and that's satisfication to them....therefore ranking BMW tied with Lexus with this unreliable source......

The worlds knows no one comes close to Lexus when satisfing there customers. Lexus treat their customers like a GOD. Self parking for example....

Haha, this is about as believable as the M3 beating the GT-R in the Car & Driver comparison test :)

Besides over 65% of BMW sales are leases, while less than 40% of Lexus' sales are Leases, these people will not experience first hand the true cost of ownership of BMW as all the costs are covered. Do a satisfaction survey "after" the lease term and what the result will be like. BMW repair garages are usually busier than a emergency room, a lot of broken down cars in there :)

If your figures are indeed correct, it might be because BMW has the highest residual of any luxury car maker in the world.

If you check consumer reports it recommends the 3, 5 and 7 series.

As far as BMW repair garages go I find you way off base.. My BMW's have been flawless. I only see the dealership once a year for an oil change and service, which by the way is paid for by BMW. The one Lexus I owned screwed me every time I took it in for service. $$$$$$$$$$$$ everytime for the recommended oil change on the Lex.. Soon traded it for another BMW.

My father has a 2000 BMW with over 100,000 miles on it and the only problem he ever had with it was a power window rotor that was replaced free of charge.

So I guess that blows your repair conspiracy theory out of the water.

People buy Lexuses but people lease BMWs. What this means is that BMW = continuous income stream

JD Powers is a distant second when compared to the Michigan data. Ask anybody in Wall Street which info is more accurate or has more leverage. JD Powers is for marketing purposes (think Motor Trend or Popular Science), but the Michigan analysis is what Fortune 500 companies use when they need "real" data (think The Economist or Scientific American).

Hey HondaJap:

Since you think BMWs are unreliable, I'll give you this. BMW ranked above HONDA, above Nissan, and above Infiniti in the latest vehicle dependability survey done by JD powers. In fact, even Audi and Benz were higher than Nissan. If you don't own the cars, you have no right to say they're unreliable. My BMW 335i and Audi Q7 have been flawless. BMWs are highly recommended by consumer reports as well. Drive/own a BMW first before speaking again.

"Krauts" build some of the worlds best cars. They are the overall benchmark in performance, prestige, luxury, and design. But then again, you wouldn't know what good design is (you like Hondas..) This is one fact though. The Japanese are the benchmark in electronics/technology.

If "Krauts" don't know how to build cars, then the "Jap Hirohito loving war-criminal monkeys" don't even know what a car is. SCION, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki, and Izuzu performed MUCH MUCH worse than MBenz and Audi.

"lame rehashes"

wow. that's the pot calling the kettle black.

all we hear from you is:

1. how your brother/neighbor/friend is paying 8.5% interest to finance a lexus.
2. that all bmws are leased
3. that all bmws fall apart
etc. etc.

talk about rehash.

Attention Sales Alert for auto001 and Huu76:

Infiniti is offering ZERO percent financing on some of their models for up to 72 months.

On all other models it is 0.9% and 1.9% for up to 60 months.

I guess they are giving their cars away, because they can't sell them..

That's been your excuse for BMW, please let me know your "SPIN" on this subject.

Hey people. BMW's are awsome vehicles and are truely make the best cars in the market. However closely hunted by all the other German car makers. Lexus arent entertaining. In fact they are dead boring.

Anyway. I would like to know if the BMW X5's were ever built in Germany? Or were they always built in the States? As far as i know, the engines are built in Germany then shiped to the states. Someone please tell me asap. Cheers.
