Mercedes 722 SLR Roadster to appear at Paris show

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that its longstanding partnership with British sports car manufacturer McLaren to build the SLR supercar will come to an end next year, and to mark the occasion the companies are planning to release a special edition ‘Speedster’ model.

However, the Speedster isn’t the only new SLR variant in the works as this October’s Paris Motor Show is expected to see the launch of a new 722 Edition based on the current SLR Roadster (pictured).

They've had variants of the SLR already. How many variants of the LF-A have we seen? The last I remember the number is zero!.

People have paid the hefty price tag for this car. Now if the LF-A was priced that high it would be a complete joke. No brand loyalty when most of the people buying Lexus are buying it for the value more than anything else. The brand is simply cheaper than Mercedes. It's the best alternative to Cadillac and Jaguar.

The Lexus LF-A has been delayed indefinitely.
As soon as the forthcoming Acura NSX was undergoing testing at the Nuremburgring North course and the track times started leaking out, the head honchos at Toyota decided "not at this time".

I had the distinct pleasure of sitting in and starting an SLR Roadster at a MB Sponsored golf event in NJ last month and I must say, it is impressive. Unfortunatly, the MB Rep wouldn't let me drive it. But the roar of the engine starting up and the immaculately appointed interior were breathtaking! If I had $500k to burn, it would burn in an SLR!
