Chrysler enters hybrid segment

Chrysler’s new Dodge Durango and Aspen hybrid SUVs finally began rolling off assembly lines this week at the company’s Newark plant in Delaware.

The two SUVs are Chrysler’s first entries in the hybrid market and are claimed to offer a 25% improvement in mileage compared with the regular petrol versions (EPA figures are yet to be released).

What's wrong with trying to improve the gas mileage of a vehicle with bad gas mileage. How is that worse than making a vehicle with great gas mileage get even greater mileage.

This was in reference to the comments about the Yukon and Tahoe.
The Durango hybrid is a joke. Its an ancient bloated vehicle that barely hangs on in the market.

I believe it was in a Motor Trend magazine, the one with the gt500 vs. the challenger, that they had a whole section on diesel and hybrid vehicles, and the length of time it would take to recoupe your investment.

They stated that it only took like 3 years on the Mercedes diesels, but a few hundred years on the Chevy Tahoe hybrid.
