I have traveled to Aruba, Japan, Germany, Ireland, Hong Kong, Thailand, Phillippines, Singapore, United Arab Emeriates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Italy, Cypruss, Canada, Mexico, Kuwait, Malaysia etc..and yes even S. Korea...I can tell you right now..I didn't see a single German built cars. Rented a Car in Korea and drove for approximately a week so I'm giving you a reliable data IMO.

What, I remember seeing in Korea back in year 2000:
65% Hyundai (XG350 was sold back in 2000..came to U.S. 3-4 years later)
10% Daewoo cars/buses
15% Kias
10% Ssung Kyung *SUV had M.Benz engine/diesel (rented it while in Seoul)
*Saw (1) American Muscle car - Newer body Trans Am.

Breakdown on Cars you'd see in the Middle East:
50% Toyota
20% Nissan
20% Hondas
*Numerous buses were built by Daewoo.
*70% of the cars were between 80's to 90's.
*Nissan Maxima used for Police cars

In Japan:
Too many to breakdown..many never seen or heard of here in the U.S.

-Saw dorky looking boxy shaped car in 1997 in Japan---Saw same dorky looking boxy shaped car again only this time in U.S. 2003 - sold as an Honda Element.
-Nissan Skyline was probably the best car in Japan by far...Very Very impressive.
-seen Mitsu. van w/"GPS" in 1997 also!.
-Didn't see a single Korean, U.S. or European cars.
