Looks like a Mitsubishi lancer! Minor changes...don't see the purpose?

Look at the side view of any Lexus IS. Now focus on the windows and the rear door cut line. The glass looks like a little weenie peeing down the side of the car. Every time I see one of these cars I see this hilarious joke Lexus played on these poor owners.

Did you look at it? The cut line is a stream of pee down the side of the car coming right out of the end of...... well look at some photos yourself and be your own judge. If it wasn't so damn funny it would be sick.

Can't see much difference.

I'm 6'2" and can't consider most Lexuses for purchase. The seats don't go down low enough and my head nearly brushes against the headliner. This is true in the IS, ES, and GS.

same problem here...6'4". oddly the IS is better than the GS though. i literally hit my head in the GS if i go over a bump.

Lexus was only mentioned in the same phrase as Maybach, Bentley, and RR because of the LS rear seats which are a total knockoff of the Maybach. It's not in the same level of luxury, prestige, and price so quit dreaming.

Lexus has to be prestigious to Americans. Heck, Lexus is essentially a Japanese-American company, originally catering to the US market. Sure they stole some German consumers and quite rightly so. Lexus pricing was cheaper. It suited the Cadillac market and people wanted Japanese they had the Lexus option. Value isn't the word you want to use when talking about prestige. A Hyundai Genesis is value.

when it comes to the is350 or a 3 series, my choice is lexus. but for performance, all the bmws handle better than lexus' cars. the isf is the only lexus that handles like a sports car

- I've read that the IS350 has a harsher more jarring ride than even a sports package equipped BMW 3-series.

The difference between you and AmazonPrince is that I assume he owns an IS. You own a Camry so do you see the difference there? Ok fine some parts are probably Toyota parts in the IS but that's not the point right now.

Ok well first of all if you're comparing HP VS HP obviously the IS350 has more punch. If you're talking about being nimble around corners my bet would be on the 325i. As for comfort, I would take the BMW as well. Those IS seats are too small and not enough lumbar support. But then again they fit tiny trolls so what do I know.

BMW is frantic seeing this redesign. Oh no, what will they do. Those dang Japanese have struck fear into the Germans. The last IS couldn't keep up with the 3-Series, perhaps a mild freshening will do the trick. Perhaps those slightly altered headlamps will help overcome all the issues the previous IS had.

Of course MichaelTaylor is damn near a heart attack - what can I say. I think reader Drew630 summed it up best in saying, "Yawn..."

OK, this car is truly boring. But don't say all Japanese cars are.

One more thing I noticed in looking at the pictures, the IS has a "style edition" while BMW offers a Sport package. I don't know about you, but I would much rather drive a sporty car like the 3-Series than be a poser in a "style edition" meant to evoke sporting intentions.

Lexus is better than this, produce a true world class sports sedan that can run with the 3-Series. Toyota has the resources to do this, leave the boring for the ES, make the IS a true competitor.

Why? Why not make something different. Does the 3 not have enough competitors? Can this just compete with the C Class or something? Why must everything be a BMW? I like a variety as do Americans. Let Lexus do Lexus and if you dont like it, dont buy it! That simple. Why continuously criticize them for not being what YOU want them to be. Let them be who they are and leave it at that. Not everyone wants a BMW.

And the ES doesnt currently have many competitors in the Luxury segment. I think its a good position to be in. They just seriously need to redesign the awful interior. I see plenty of ES's when I drive around so I doubt it was that unsuccessful for them to scratch. And if it is now, its just due to poor styling. A good redesign would resolve that issue.

So they finally give it a set of LED taillamps, and the front grille straight from the ES/GS. Sorry I'm not a fan other either of the larger Lexus' currently, they could have done more to the front to make it look more aggressive than more old people style. It's like the Asian version of Buick with that grille.

But then again they do appeal to an older crowd.

Young people still want to buy a BMW 3er over the IS. They just settle for the very uncomfortable seats because the 335i costs more :). People don't lust after an IS. You are a comedic relief to most of the readers on this site. Even the Lexus fans know when not to be a fanboy. Their smarter than that. Unlike someone here.....

I bought my IS350 primarily for its design. I could of purchased a 3 but thought it looked too boring. Not everyone sees beauty the same way.

Some people think Nicole Kidman looks better than JLO but I think she has a dry but elegant look to her while JLO's look is just plain sex and its ok that they are diff. That's how I view these cars. I'm glad the IS is more luxury than sport (although I think it is the perfect balance between the two) that's why we have the G.

Lets face it. You only say you like her because she drives an IS350. Don't deny it.

the new iS doesn't look so new. Minor changes with the tail lamps and interior bits don't account for it to be new at all. i don't like how lexus likes to manipulate people to think that their refresh cars are actually new as in new gen. it's sad how far lexus has to go to get buyers.

i don't believe and i don't buy their bullcrap. i drive a 03' gs because i liked the value and bang for buck i got on the car. so if michaeltaylor you know about lexus it doesnt got the euro appeal but it satisfy me as a driver. i ride in comfort and i like the engine. but its different in lots of ways compared to a e class or 5series or a6. taylor i test driven all models of all the brands but i bet you havent because i'm not bias like you are. people who have driventhe others know their all awesome cars

WOW! A nice post from a Lexus owner! And I am not being sarcastic! LOL! I own a BMW 3 series and I test drove everything before my purchase. And while I did like the IS looks, the handling is what lead me away from it. It is not bad mind you, just not sporty enough for my driving tastes.

That is what makes car buying so great, there are a lot of choices for all types of people. If Michael Taylor wants to be in his little World of Lexus, then so be it, I just wish he would stop with the idiotic comments so much.

3er, good choice. imo, better than the iS. depending what you want really. the lexus'seats really arent that comfortable so i can't support my brand on that one. the benchmark title still goes to the 3er. even the base 325i would still out handle a is250 with springs. it's just how the car is built. more aimed at comfort than sport. the 3er does both very well and thats why its been a success. but my lexus gs i think is one of the best mid size luxury cars in the market. it's got styling i like but it doesnt take anything away from the e class, a6, or 5 series at all. different buyers , different loyalties, and beauty is only in the eye of the beholder..!!..

I always thought it was a odd design. It seems to me the elements do not go together well. Either be a wedge with sharp edges, or a smooth more rounded car. Don't try to fuse both together.

Has anyone seen BMW's lastest 3 series commercial? It has the IS in between the A4 and C class.

I don't think the IS is taking away too many sales from the 3 and its definitely not as sporty (G has that covered) so why even acknowledge it?

For it only being its second generation I think Lexus did a pretty good job with the design and engineering on this car.

Ehhh the front lower grille makes the IS look like a fat kid. The ES modeled tail lights is step backwards... and the chrome.... jebus. I have a 07 IS350, and this face lift from the 06-08 is a step backwards.

Unlike the CTS that nobody ever talks about, Oh wait a minute. Isn't the CTS included in the list of GM cars that are on the chopping block?

The car actually looks okay, but the rear lights look more like an ES, which IMO isnt that good for the IS to follow.

They should drop the 250 and only have the 350, offer it with AWD and go heads up with Infiniti, but toyota is boring and wouldn't want anyone to excited including their elder heart attack prone customers.

Drop the 250? Last time I heard the 350 was less than 10% of all of the IS sales. Now I could be wrong.

Nice little changes. Especially i like the design of the turn signal light in the wing mirror and the grille is made more prominent like facelift GS’s. Bumper looks more rounded, together with fog lamps shape looks nice too. Overall an improvment in an already great and stylish design.
Undoubtly to me now IS is the best looking car in it's class.

and M53R be honest it's 3 Series sedan which looks like....anything. anything rubbish. not the sleek and stylish IS. 3 series sedan rear end is one of the ugliest and don't go at all with the edgy front end. It's only now with the refreshed 3 series sedan that BMW fixed it a bit. C class is also very ordinary looking.

A4 and IS according to me looks the best in the segment.

Don't kno y ppl think Lexus is boring - they make more tru RWD cars than they have FWD cars - I'd rather get an IS because the 3 is toooooo common (every other girl in my college has one) - and the IS seats r bigger than a 3 series seat. Cornering hard is stupid- u can can kill someone/urself going around a turn @ 60mph. The IS 250 RWD 6 spd. manual is a unique ride no matter what.

As much as I hate to repeat this, StickShiftCamry is right. BMW's are simply not that exotic, at least in this town. The 3er is as common as Honda's here in LA. And unfortunately, it's all too often that poseurs, not the gear heads, that ride BMW's.

And, as long as we're playing the race card, there's always a wealthy Persian that seems to drive the M's in this town. Sorry about this, but it's true.
