Hot News: Mercedes CLT
All the style, but none of the sacrifices. This is what happens when you cross Mercedes’ sleek CLK coupé with a spacious estate. It’s called the CLT, and as our exclusive pictures show, it will be the first three-door estate ever built by the firm.

The newcomer follows hot on the heels of our E-Class spy shots (Issue 1,026), and the similarities between the two are clear. The large grille, twin headlights and sculpted bonnet on this car mimic the next exec, and point the way for Mercedes’ future design direction.

Up to the point where the B-pillar would normally be, this car is identical to the CLK. Beyond that, the roofline is extended, creating a big boot, a huge side glass area and a low, elongated profile. The shooting brake design means owners can have all this extra space with the style and uncluttered shape of a much smaller model.

He has said multiple times in his last few comments that this site has been going downhill for sometime and that it isn't what it used to be. I completely agree.

This used to be a place for unbiased car news and discussions about them, plain and simple. Of late, it has become a MySpace, Perez Hilton type site where 90% of the comments are childish rants and the "agents" provoke such children by asking stupid questions and making ridiculous polls and articles.

I miss the "old" Autospies. This new one is just stupid.

so where do we go? I'd love to get back to a site that is for real discussion and not just stupid comments by 14 year olds who can't even drive.

S4 is probably working hard on a court case.

If you want to talk about absence, then talk about MDalle!

It was MikeG, Wilco,... oh geez... what else? ;)

I am pretty sure just those two.

I was banned once for calling EL34 a douche (one too many times, according to 001)!

Everybody calls EL34 a douche now! And, how many times do I have to read "stupid japs" on this site???

I applaud MB for a design/concept that is not common, but I remember the VW Fox Wagon and the Nissan Pulsar Wagon, both not big sellers and no one really is crying out for the return of them. I think this is a bad idea.

Ughh. Merc doesn't really make great "utility" vehicles anyway. BTW, Can somebody tell me what the R-Class is really about? Why oh why is Merc making a 50k mini van? I had now idea that the Newport Beach soccer mom market had so much pull.

What's this...the M-B CLiT?

Sorry, had to say it. It was the first thing that came to my mind after reading the title of the article.

Excusing my initial comment...the CLT looks better than the crappy update to the C-class 3-door hatch concept they released earlier this year.

Mercedes' answer to BMW V5?

Dude they are not going to build this. Its most likely a design study showing the concept for the next CLK and E Class. I'd guess its more to gauge the interest in the styling direction and will probably have the interior of the two cars too.

I don't see a purpose for this car. There is no market for this car nor will Mercedes build a niche with this. They should have made the C-Class coupe a proper coupe and scratch this idea. This is from a Mercedes can so don't get it twisted. I'm no Lexus fanboy who's putting down MB (eg. MT). Just speaking the truth.

This is just awful...who finds this crap?

Why would anyone put the (projected?) face of the new E/CLK with a wagon back?
