Study: Women get ’turned on by engine sounds of Maseratis
In an interesting (you might be thinking pointless, but that really depends) study, a British Insurance company found out that women are actually sexually aroused by the sounds coming from the engine of a Maserati, Lamborghini or Ferrari.

Hiscox (we’re guessing the name of the insurance company had something to do with the study) Insurance company gathered female and male volunteers and played a 20-minute clip of each car being revved.

Following the test, researchers collected the saliva of the volunteers. Testing for testosterone levels, the researchers found that women had quite a ’significant’ increase in their testosterone level when listening to a Maserati - men showed a...

"Hiscox also tested for the Volkswagen Polo, which actually resulted in an opposite effect with the testosterone levels of women actually dropping"

And that's what makes those brands super car makers. It's not always the performance numbers that we seem to be so focused on it's the emotion it creates for the driver and I guess now that we know, the ladies as well.

Doesn't the GT-R wish it could "turn on" women?. It is a great car though nonetheless.

Why are you such a tool? Only you would mention the GT-R here and try to bash it, just as I'm sure MT will mention a Corolla or another Tayoda.

EVERYONE gets turned on by the sound of an italian 8 or 12 cylinder engine. assuming they have a heart that beats more than 15 times a minute.

I can see an insurance company commissioning a study like this. Insurance companies are constantly looking for an excuse to raise rates. Soon we will probably hear that cars that get people horny while they drive will be subject to higher rates. I happen to believe that drivers are extra careful while they are getting sexual attention because they know that distractions can cause accidents. So, which is better, some pleasurable distraction with extra careful driving or reckless driving for excitement?

Well, I don't know about that. The interesting thing about growing-up in a small town in that you happen to hear about it when interesting things happen.

When I was in high school there was a car accident outside of town. It was obvious by the...nature of the injuries that the driver was receiving...oral gratification from the passenger. Both of them were married to other people.

come on dude, a toyota that's not a supra and sound good in the same sentence?

i never thought a V6 sounded good until the infiniti G37 came out. i'm not a huge infiniti fan but that exhaust note sounds sick.

Michael, the only woman you will be turning on is your mother when she lets you drive the Camry home after you get off school.

BS...the only thing they are turned on by is knowing that, that sound is associated with an expensive car, meaning the guy whoever owns it has a lot of money. Try making a Corolla sound like that and see how much women get turned on..."zero point zero"!
