OK, Now I want one.

I can live with the gas mileage , especially now that I drive only about 10,000 km per year (I live in Canada) but spending probably C$125K to buy it makes no financial sense from the life-cycle cost perspective since it would then be cheaper for me to just take a cab everywhere and use a rental car for a longer trip.

Agreed. This is one of those things that was already on the drawing board, and needs to be redrawn.

The FX 45 & X6 make better 0-60 times with only V8's and get better gas mileage.

And place the engine in the R8 for what? Will it make it any quicker or fuel efficient?

The Q7 V12 TDI uses 11.3 liters per 100 km on average (20.82 mpg) The FX50 is rated at 13.0 liters per 100 km on average (18.09 mpg)

Are you crazy? Our X5 4.8i is a full second slower from 0-60mph and gets 5MPG worse. This is the first Q7 I really want!

very nice specs on the diesel motor this is a nice truck but It looks even better with a body kit and lowered a couple of inches. I wonder how it rides and if it makes a whistling noise when you drive it

actually the standard Q7 has 50/50 weight distribution. This might have slightly poorer weight distribution, but not by too much.

Again, this Q7 has more design and engineering than your car, and you are just jealous.

Just wondering if anyone knows if this thing is going to make it to the states? I thought I heard earlier when the concept car came it that it wasnt going to be sold here in america.

WOW, I am very impressed. It looks gorgeous for a big SUV, has that incredible engine (will probably be 0-60 in 5 flat in real life), and gets 20MPG. I would buy one...

This just shows how diesel technology enables one to achieve high performance and good fuel economy at the same time. I can hardly wait for Audi to put this V12 TDI in the R8.

On a more mundane level the Audi A4 3.0 TDI and BMW 335d debut this winter. I can hardly wait!

I don't know about the rest of the country, but in the Richmond, Va. area the gab between premium gasoline & diesel is shrinking. I have checked about six gas stations in my area. At five of the stations diesel sold from $0.25 to $.50 per gallon more than premium. At one station diesel and premium gas sold for exactly the same price!

for comparison the Cayenne Turbo S costs 132,774 euro in Germany. And the Q7 gets you 32% more mpgs.

VW's TDI engines are just plain exciting. I'll take a TDI V8, V10, or V12 in either a Touareg, Q7, Q5, or S8.

And you are wrong again, the most popular Audi in China is the A6L. The A6L made up 71% of Audi sales in China in first half of 2008. The A4 sold 18% of all Audis. Add those two together (you can do that?) and you end up with almost all Audis sold in China being the A6L and A4.

Pre WW-II Horch was one the most expensive and luxurious automobile marquees of its time. No plebian roots. I doubt you could afford a Horch then and now.

I am sure the chassis can easily handle 738 lb-ft of torque. The (little) MB SL class can handle that much torque.

the SRT-10 pickup gets to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, Audi's conservative time to 62 miles is 5.5 seconds. Maybe a US magazine will test the V12 TDI, so we can compare the specifics at that time. Not to say the Q7 has way more luxury.

The regular Q7 can tow 7,050 pounds in Europe. That's more than enough to tow. And it has more horsepower and torque than any heavy duty pickup in the states.

The Q7 V12 TDI gets better fuel economy than the Jeep Wrangler with the 3.8 V6. Has more than double the horsepower and more than 3 times the torque. Enough said.

There is a big difference between a Q7 and an H1, performance, comfort, fuel economy. The Q7 V12 TDI has 9.5 inches of ground clearence so it's decent off road.
