RECALL MONDAY: Chevy Recalls 300,000 HHR Wagons For Storage Bin Latch Failure
General Motors Corp will recall almost 300,000 Chevrolet HHR wagons because of a problem with a storage bin latch, according to a notice filed by federal safety regulators on Monday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its Web site the recall would cover 296,422 HHR's built for the 2006 through 2008 model years.

During testing, a storage bin in the top center of the instrument panel failed to remain closed as required by federal safety standards.

I can't believe that GM sold 296,422 HHR wagons. I live in the NY tri-state area and I think I've seen about 5, total; EVER.

Where did they sell these? Does Avis or Enterprise rent-a-car have them all? If so, it should be an easy recall.

Maybe they are just popular in the Midwest. I know I see a ton of them in MO, IL, and KY.

I am from the N.Y. Tri-State area also in Long Island and when they came out I never seen one but once. I am used to seeing all luxury cars from Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Cadillacs, Audi's, Infiniti's and so on......a lot of people in that area are into mainly German and Japanese cars

This car was made during the GM "cheap interior" times... and I think it's a very pointless vehicle.

I try to post the positive when it is available, but you have to look at the landscape. Recalls are important.

Also right now until Paris is out, most manufacturers aren't releasing too much about them selves. So the negative does surface more.
