Vegas "King Of Cars" Closes Nation's Largest Hummer Dealership

Vegas
General Motors’s quest to sell its Hummer division may get a bit tougher after Tuesday.

That is when Dan Towbin–whose dealerships grabbed national attention as the backdrop for an A&E television series called “King of Cars“–will close his Hummer dealership, one of the brand’s largest stores in the U.S. and the only one in Las Vegas. It is at least the eighth Hummer dealer closing this year, nearly a 5% decline in the brand’s U.S. dealer base.

As GM tries to sell the Hummer brand, dealership closings are one of a handful of black marks the auto maker carries into negotiations with potential buyers. Critics have suggested it will be hard for GM to sell Hummer, and there is little good news for the brand–at least in the core U.S. market–to counter that skepticism.

it honestly would make sense like maybe a hybrid H3, or hybrid diesel H3, but im sure the development costs wouldnt make sense given how poor the brand is doing....but hey if a Escalade, and Tahoe can get a hybrid system not sure why they couldnt have done the same with smaller H3, or at least a diesel H2

Obviously I live in Vegas and fortunately for me I don't have a Hummer. Between the lack of updates for the brand, the housing market and subsequent economic problems in Vegas, and the fact that the novelty of the Hummer brand has worn off it doesn't look good for Hummer out here.

As someone who lives in Las Vegas... I say - GREAT!

One less dealership polluting LV roads with these gas-guzzling, traffic-blocking eyesores!

Until the stupidity gene is isolated, anyone who owns a Hummer should be sterilized.

Someone should buy them and turn them completely around.

Sell small Wrangler size offroaders with diesel powerplants.
