I agree, they could have made the shape more "coupe like" and less like a station wagon. Why Porsche? WHY!?

You guys are right on. I keep thinking this car is just a bad dream that wont go away. Only so many of these can sell to those with $$$ who just want to be different, most of those folks I imagine just want a gorgeous car, not the Addams family-mobile

I want it to work but I still just don't see how that back end is going to work.

Totally agree, I am still scratching my head on this. It has taken so long for Porsche to develop and make this car, I have been seeing photos of it for awhile now. I would be tempted to call this Porsche's new Camaro.

Porsche better have some body cladding on this vehicle that we don't know about, otherwise they will be rivaling the Pontiac Aztec for producing one of the ugliest cars ever designed.

Still hideous

One of history's ugliest. If this thing does not perform better than any sedan out there, it will probably only sell two or three tops.

I'm still hoping that it cleans up well, when the final trim is in place. But I think the marketing dept has their work cut out for them.

If I worked for their marketing dept I would beg for this thing to be hidden from the public for ever to not embarrass Porsche and loose valuable customers.

What a catastrophe. They're still planning on making this thing? It would look right at home next to a stretch Hummer on prom night.

Everybody called the Cayenne ugly when it first appeared but it somehow was a success. This is in a different league though. For such an expensive car the whole concept seems badly flawed. Its a hatchback !! I have a Golf GTI and I like hatchbacks but who the hell would buy this over a Maserati?

Porsche's take over of VW will be in serious trouble after this, just wait 12/24 months and their finances will change dramatically.

And the Cayenne is still one of the ugliest SUVs imo. It looks like a big ugly frog.

SUV's can get away with a little being ugly. A sedan is different. The prestige level is higher and it needs to be good looking. I have a Cayenne and its functional but doesn't have to be a beauty queen. The sedan is different animal. It need to be a looker.

To me the Cayenne was never a success. The only people I see driving them are rich soccer moms who have NO IDEA they are driving a Porsche. They may as well be in a Suburban cause they go 25mph and don't drive it like it's meant to be. Pisses me off more and more.

Oh, trust me, they know they're driving a Porsche. That's why they got it at all. They just don't know how to use it.

You must be an idiot to say it wasn't a success. It's their number one selling model. More than the 911!

this and the cayenne will be total uglyness for porsche. I cannot imagine a die-hard porsche enthusiast looking towards this. This and the cayenne look like ....

A die-hard enthusiast hates the idea of a water-cooled 911. I can't imagine how he feels about this.

NO matter how much I want to like the Panamera from the spy shots I just can't do it. Its too big and its a hatchback...not a good look.

They should've made the back windows more sleeker instead of the box design. I'm pretty sure mid-life crisis individuals and hot soccer Moms are planning to purchase this bad boy.

Reuters reported Wednesday that Porsche's unit sales in the USA for the year ending 8/31/2008 were down 17% from 8/31/2007.'Ferdinand' and his crew will blame this on the "lousy economy". The real reasons, I suspect, are the lousy customer service in the show room, in the shop, and if you call Porsche North America. The new 4 door, whether a plain pig or one lipsticked up, doesn't address this fatal flaw.

For those Porsche people I've pissed off, I do own a 911S and I'm buying a new one because it's a great car; I'll just have to continue to deal with all the BS!
