Mitsubishi working on 400-hp Racing Lancer Evo X

Mitsubishi confirmed today that it is developing a race-going version of the new Lancer Evo X which will take place in the popular Britcar Championship. Mitsubishi is teaming up with SVA-UK with the car being driven by the company’s managing director and former BTCC, James Kaye.

ADR Motorsport will be building the car with the first public appearance scheduled for Sept 20th and 21st. The car will compete there for the first time in the Britcar 24-hour at Silverstone driven by Kaye.

If they stopped for a few minutes putting all this cash into the Evo, they could maybe have a decent lineup of models. The Galant is horrible, the Eclipse is overpriced compared to its competition, they tried to make it compete against the likes of the 350Z when it used to be compared to Civic Si's and the like.

Their SUVs are no thrill ride either. I am just waiting for them to pull out of the US market. Ever since they ditched the original Eclipse they have been suffering.

yeah the Eclipse just gets uglier and uglier what a shame. They used to have cars like the 3000GT lol.

The new eclipse is only for big bootay lovers :)

What happened to mistu? The Evo is their only decent car IMO. I had a 1995 Eclipse GSX and back then the word Eclipse actually meant something.

Mitsubishi really needs to put 400 hp on the standard EVO. At this point with the BMW 135i running circles around the weak EVO X they are in danger to lose the only successful car they sold in the last decade.

People do cross shop between the two vehicles. AWD doesn't have anything to do with it besides being a plus on the mistubishi side. Case and point. This december when it comes time to replace my car I'm looking at the 135, 335, and the EVO X MR. I guess I'm strange.

The Evo beat the 135 around the track by like 3 seconds. In a striaght line the 135 has a slight advantage but throw in a turn or two and the 135 gets left in the dust. The 135 doesn't even have an LSD.

Personally if I was looking at a 135i, I would not be cross shopping to an EVO X or even an STi. They are in different classes to me. Performance wise maybe not, nor in price. But you are talking about a souped up, tuned up econo-box car vs. an entry level luxury vehicle.

Personally I would cross shop a 135 to a new G37 coupe more than the Evo.

But once again its the only car in Mitsu's stable that means anything. Even though I still love the STi over the Evo. The STi is more sophisticated in looks than the boy racer Fast and Furious styling of the Evo.

Have you seen the latest STI? The thing looks awful. Personally I think that the EVOx has a more mature look than the STI. And doesn’t the same econobox analogy apply to the STI?

I agree with the Quality part. Especially the interior. It's the Exterior of the STI that's an Eyesore IMO. You think that the current STI is an attractive car? If you do you are in the minority.

I just wished that they gave the STI treatment to the 4-door. I’d really consider it then. But I wouldn’t be caught dead driving the hatchback version.

I'm a fan of hatchbacks, ever since I bought my Matrix I have been caught by them. And for some reason the new Subie really stands out. I am sure ugly to most, but for me it's slick. I love the LED taillamps, the projectors w/ HIDs, and the STi version does it justice. To each his own, which is why this site even exists right?

The new Evo is definitely a plus in the exterior compared to is predecessor, but it still has too much F&F look for me.
