First Drive: 2009 Audi Q7 V12 6.0L TDI
Autocar have just had a first drive of the upcoming top of the range Q7 with its V12 6.0L TDI engine. They commented on the spectacular performance for a vehicle that weighs almost 2.7 tonnes and concluded that it raises the bar for diesel power.

We can’t wait to drive one when they arrive down-under sometime in 2009.

Whilst there are no signature go fast Audi ‘R’ badges to be seen and it is powered by a diesel engine don’t be misled that this is your average family school ‘runabout’. I think it makes the most sense in the middle east - don't think it would do too well in the US b/c of the price (and the very low take-rate on W-12 A8's)

yes such a vehicle sounds good for middle east but the problem is diesel. No one likes/buy diesel here, i think less than 5% of all private cars are diesel here. And also recentley UAE(one of the biggest market for top end cars) nearly doubled the price of Diesel compare to Petrol (well not all middle east coutries did, like Saudi Arabia, Oman...etc the price of Petrol and Diesel are nearly same).

Other thing is Audi and VW are not very popular too. Here poeple would buy the Cayenne Turbo/Turbo S, ML63, X6...etc everytime.

Audi is far ahead when it comes to Diesel technology.
Impressive performance, but this car is a few numbers too big in my opinion.
