Audi Prototype Crashes Outside Nurburgring

At least it didn't catch fire like that Audi R8 a while back.

I'm trying to figure out what's up with the A7 moniker. Is that a direct reference to strong competition against BMW's 7 series or a declaration that the A8 is too expensive and an A7 will provide nearly all its features and benefits of the A8 without the high price. This could also be an excuse to offer an A8 in steel instead of aluminum so that it could be sold at a lower price. I am now driving a Passat instead of an A6 and I am prepared to eventually buy a Phaeton instead of an A8 in spite of the fact that the A8 is one of my very favorite cars.

EnnNorak, Audi uses odd numbers on coupes. Like the A5, the A7 is to be considered a coupe even though it's a 4 door coupe. Which makes sense until you look at the A3.

Um, A7 or not since it's a mule it's using the exterior from the A6, so there's not much to really see. Probably also why Audi didn't have it camo'd like they usually do.

Maybe the mule thought it would be shipped off to join the wild burros in the Nevada Desert and decided that a crash would be preferable.

Looks like an A8 with wider fenders. Maybe the chasis is the mule?

Open your eyes. It's an A6 body with wider fenders/wheelbase and raised suspension. Definitely a mule.

Only details I see are C6 A6 with flared fenders and FWIW those wheels as seen on the A5 have a different bolt & hub dimension, not really much to get from that though...

On left lane news they said the driver lost control on a damp back road outside the ring, so much for quattro....no even that will mask massive under steer.

quattro isn't going to defy the laws of physics if you make a mistake, ever see an F1 car wreck? I think they spend hundreds of millions if not billions in R&D.

One thing for sure after these crashes - time for AUDI to source the AWD system from NISSAN :)

What makes this not an A6 other than the number 7?

that does not look like the A7 renderings I saw this car has no comp against the CLS...this car looks like a plain old A6 with wide fenders it might be an RS6 but it is definitley not a A7. If I had a choice this so called A7 and a A6 I would get the A6 this car has no coupe style lines the roof is too oval to even be considered a 4 door coupe. Audi has a long way to go on the CLS beater if you ask me

amazinLystupid - bimmers never crash. bimmers are king of the road. last winter when i wouldn't dare drive the 650 in the snow i took out my audi and guess what? i'm glad that i didn't. i saw two, not one but two 5 series' turned the opposite way of the flowing traffic and i'm suposed believe your ignorance? get real dude, bimmer is good for dry road and audi is good for wet road.
