Volkswagen to offer a 2009 Rabbit TDI in fall 2009

Finally! Watch the hybrid sales severely drop the moment this VWs hit the American shores. We need European diesel cars here as an alternative to the cheaply built, unreliable Japanese hybrids.

Last time I check VW had 298 problems per 100 vehicles built according to JD powers VDS (first three years of ownership) which puts them fourth from the bottom of the list. Only to be out done by the likes of Saab, Isuzu, Suzuki, and Land Rover. VW you keep such good company and Star you are as smart as they come!

well the european VW jacka$$e$ like buying parts for their cars and working on them every weekend just like the americans with their cars from the big 3 they parts and work on them in their driveway. it may be the best selling in europe but I am sure the reliabilty is the same world wide you idiot. German weekly magazine Autobild is testing cars reliability on 100000 km distance and after every test they are disassembling tested car to search defects . They are publishing this tests in their magazines and on website . Two the most unreliable cars they tested are VW Polo and VW Touran . So as you can see this can`t be incident becouse many of VWs and VW group cars ( skoda - which are practically VWs with different design , especially older ones ) have bad position .

And this unreliable japanese hybrid toyota prius is on second place .

Why is it still called the rabbit?

In 1975-76 the American distributor labeled it the "Rabbit" and it's stuck ever since. My dad bought a yellow one in '76, and it was my favorite car ever. Sure I was only a toddler, but some good memories watching him stick shift that sucker all over town. Although the warning of "keep the windows closed when on the freeway to avoid losing control" gave it a bit of "danger" that made it all the more alluring.

Oh, you mean that Prius that got beat in terms of fuel economy by a 170hp BMW 520d.

the Prius doesn`t come anywhere near the top ten for economy or fuel emissions in England, VW and Mini diesels do, and they are both nicer and more fun to drive, in fact on an independant true road test the Honda hybrid beat the Prius, both were completely outclassed by the Ford Focus diesel, the Focus is also the top selling car in England, Toyota`s don`t even get into that top ten either
