RECALL FRIDAY: Saturn Wants 42,000 Vues Back For Leaky Power Steering

General Motors Corp is recalling about 42,408 Saturn Vue compact SUVs built from February to July due to a potential leak of power steering fluid that could cause a fire, it said on Friday.

GM said there were four reports of minor fires in the engine compartment due to fluid coming in contact with the exhaust system, but no reports of accidents or injuries.

These things never really bother me in terms of actual issues with cars and complaints against their reliability. Companies are constantly recalling for things. We had a 1989 Crown Vic Country Squire LTD wagon that 15 years later had a recall put out for the ignition as it could start a fire. 15 years later!

Also these are 2008 and 2009 models so many of them may still be on lots that are being serviced prior to sales.

Not to mention when a recall like this goes out, the service departments are notified with TSB's and when a car is brought in for service, it is checked for the recall and then worked on and the customer notified and work done for free. You do not have a rush of 42k people going to dealers to get it fixed.
