Worst Road Rage Incident Ever? Woman Dies After Setting Her Own Car Ablaze

It was the ultimate expression of road rage. A furious woman driver died after ramming another vehicle and spinning her wheels so fast that her own car burst into flames.

Serena Sutton-Smith, 54, burnt to death after refusing to get out of her Vauxhall Nova as she sat with her foot flat on the accelerator.

She spun the wheels so fast that her tyres disintegrated and the metal rims sent a shower of sparks into the engine, igniting the brake fluid and setting the car on fire.

if your pun was truly not intended, why the heck did you type it than? did you type it subconsciously? you are contradicting yourself everytime you use that play on words.

The funny thing is she's the one who cut the other person off... it's like you shove someone for no reason and you get angry because that person yells at you :) strange...

Hey, bipolar disorder is no joke. Hopefully, you won't run into anyone who is suffering from this. It is truly impossible to deal with.

The woman obviously had some issues beyond just the "normal" behaviour exhibited by people in a situation like that, but the outcome is still sad. She probably has a family and I do feel sorry for them.

Autospies, one way to get rid of the ridiculousness that plagues this site is to quickly and arbitrarily ban posters like this. I see in almost every thread someone making a ridiculous comment -- and cloaked in the annonymity of the internet, nothing is ever done. Make a stand, please. Control your site. I'm all for free speech, but I abhor stupidity.

StarSearch, I hope nothing like this happens to anyone you know and love. Bipolar disorder affects not only the person afflicted with it, but everyone around, as this incident demonstrates. Yes, this is a site dedicated (allegedly) to car enthusiasm, but when people go off and say ridiculous stuff like this, it takes away from the site. I'm no bleeding heart liberal, but I can't stand people using the annonymous nature of the internet to hide behind their stupidity. I'm all for fanboy rampage, but a lady lost her life and she could have killed others.

But what the hell? Even if you read this, it won't change what you think. Nor will it change any of the stupid people from posting stupid things. Only AutoSpies can police itself.

We don't hinder your free speech, that is your right in this country. But if it becomes malicious or vulgar you are out of here.

I do not feel bad for this woman she is just plain stupid I dont understand such stupidity and yes she was bipolar but that doesnt mean that you can feel fire up your ass! Bipolar does not equal stupid/retarded. This stuff just makes me angry.

people don't choose to be mentally ill. but what's wrong with trying to keep these (mentally ill) from killing or harming others? being mentally ill does not give you a license to kill or to harm or even to harass others. think before you judge. I may be politically incorrect but at least I am not a phony.

Im not sure how compassion for someone is in trouble is being phony but I youre right that being mentally ill is no license to harm others. Thats why psychiatrists can commit people like this involuntarily to get treatment.

Unfortunately as a psych resident, Ive seen and heard people with mental illness have difficulties where there behavior has threatened others and themselves, I dont see any insults here, thats just reality

Mental illness does not equate stupidity, trying to rationalize this outcome solely on the basis of bipolar disorder is demeaning to the mentally ill.
Equally stupid bystanders did not open the door and pulled her out of the car.
