The mid-life refresh of the 5th-generation BMW 3-Series will make its world debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show next month and will start arriving in dealerships shortly after that. We have to say, we’re really impressed what BMW did with the front fascia, hood creases and new taillamps.

Europeans will obviously get a variety of different powertrain choices but when the 2009 3-Series arrives in the U.S., we’ll see the usual 328i and the 300-hp 3.0L twin-turbo charged 335i. The most exciting addition for the new 3-Series will be the 335d, a 3.0L twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 265-hp with a maximum torque of 425 lb-ft. Even with that type of performance the 335d will return a fuel-economy of 23/33mpg (city/highway).

AudiNewEngland,

Let's compare Apple's to Apple's shall we?? The M3 sedan will SLAY the S4..

I'm assuming he's talking about the new S4 coming out? Cuz the present one gets its doors blown off by the 335i and most likely the new one will be slower too.

Power for power, Audis are known to be one of the slowest cars...I'm not hating, I like Audis for other rasons but this is just simply true. Too much drivetrain loss in their AWD systems.

You cannot compare them solely on price because Audis are more expensive than BMWs, for the most part, but then again they do cater to a wealthier segment.

Currently:
A4/A5=328
S4/S5=335
RS4/RS5=M3

The B7 S4 doesn't compete with the E90 M3, The B7 RS4 does. It hasn't since the B6 S4 with the previous M3.

Also, the 3.2 A4 does not compete with the 335. It is solely an option for those who want a V6 instead of a 4-cylinder.

It will become much more clear with the NEW(B8) S4, as it will be more comparable. Believe me, I looked at a B7 S4 and passed, as it is an embarrassment that its competition can smoke it with a V6. It blows up against the 335, but the B8 will smoke it as well as the new one.

Those are the most douchebag statements I have ever read, are you sure your name isn't Michael Taylor?
