GM announces plans for the 1.4-litre N-A/turbo engines

General Motors has announced that they will be doubling the global production of the small 4-cylinder engines by 2011. CEO Rick Wagoner said that GM will be investing $370 million in a new manufacturing plant for the 4-cylinder motors.

Do they mean the FIAT 1.4 turbos and non turbos?

I think it might be 1.4L ecotec engines that will be developed by GM Europe (Opel). They currently have a bunch of small engines starting from 1.0 L, one of which is a naturally aspirated 1.4 ecotec (90 hp), so the turbocharged version might come from this engine. They also have a 1.6 turbo (in various form, produce from 150 hp to 190s hp), so we could probably see that in some upcoming GM cars in the US as well.
