Lotus gives details regarding Evora’s aluminium structure

After the very popular Elise and Exige, the British car maker’s new launch Evora’s chassis has just received the European Aluminum Award 2008. The Evora, with its mid engine layout, 2+2 in a lightweight aluminum frame, is the only vehicle to be based on Lotus’ Aluminum Crossover concept (APX) vehicle unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

I'm very excited to see this car, but just hope Lotus step up the dealer support in the U.S. and improve poor build quality that made me get rid of my Elise.

What kind of problems did you have with it? I've been looking at them recently and they can be had for about half price of original cost (25-30k for a 2005) which isn't bad. Havent had the chance to drive one yet.

The Evora will be at the L.A. Auto Show on November (21-30) and the build quality is nothing like the Elise or Exige but then again, those two models are targeted for a totally different market.

There's always been dealer support however, there hasn't always been good dealers to receive support...big difference.

They need a better engine! How would this be in a colision? Is the alunimun maluable enough not to crack? Will it bend? It's not allowed in racing cages for safety reasons.
