Stud or Dud? 2009 Mazda Miata MX5 Images Leak Out
While details are sparse at this time on Mazda's new Miata MX5, the high res pictures have already leaked out ahead of official announcements.

With a fresher front and rear, and rumored more powerful powertrains in the works the MX5 appears more than ready to define the segment. But its it enough to keep it on top?

Take a look at the gallery and tell us if the new MX5 is a stud or a dud?

Don't really feel it's right move. Guess it's Dud.

Give me FI.

I think it looks good but calling a Miata a STUD would be too much. So let's just say is neither a STUD nor a DUD, just a decent looking econo roadster.

I agree - as always the Miata - an excellent car is not a dud or a stud, rather it's very cute. That can be a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint. Regardless, I'm sure it will be an excellent ride.

It beginning to look like the Hondas S2000. Nice re-design though.

A conservative but decent redo although it needs to sit a bit lower on the wheels to look more effective.

Stud. I like the front bumper a lot more now.

Stud. Front makes it look more aggressive.

Dud: still too cutesy and feminine.

Been going downhill since gen 2. This one still looks like it has bad aftermarket panels. How about some simulated rivets to complete the "style"?

...My thoughts exactly... (Btw, does anyone else find it strange to still see key holes on the trunk of a new car?)

Not sure I'm a big fan of the new headlights/grille and taillights. I thought the pre-tweak version had a more wholistic and harmonious overall design. But, I'm sure it's just as fun to drive, if not better :)

Quite S2000-ey. I like it, but I wouldn't have one.

The car I'd like my girlfriend to own and secretly would love to drive...it rides like a go-cart (in a very good way)

Until you've owned a Miata, you can never truly appreciate why it's NOT ok to own one; as a guy. My first car(not by choice) was a 1992 Miata - "flaming" red. I can't count on 4 hands how many times I got called some kind of name while stopped at a light, at a busy intersection; top down. It was always seemed to be the same 6 letter "f" word.

Its a nice, affordable roadster that I envision a first year nurse living in Florida or SoCal to buy. Nothing more, nothing less.

It looks like it's smiling at me. I guess that's a good thing. That said, it's no stud, but it's no dud either.

BTW... if you're too worried about what people might say to you simply because you own this car, you have no balls. Grow some.

This car will continue to be a nice alternative for West Hollywood boys who don't want to drive a Sebring convertible.
